Job Summary

  • Assess Data sovereignty risk across all Transaction Banking Cash and Trade applications and corresponding processes. 
  • To align with data quality requirements and ensure that the framework is fit for its purpose.
  • Ensuring all the risk associated with data are registered in M7 for better tracking and remediation.
  • Safeguard different data categories from unauthorized access.
  • Aim to report on completed actions, achievements & challenges of TB DQ projects in the respective working groups, steering committees etc.
  • Ensure adherence to data protections regulations.
  • Identify and mitigate risks associated with data handling, storage and transmission.
  • Work together with relevant stakeholders to implement DQ initiatives within Transaction Banking Data space.
  • Effectively engage senior business stakeholders across geographies, including local Audit and CFCR teams when required.
  • Co-ordinate / drive Data Conduct initiatives across TB, working in close partnership with Cash and Trade business teams on execution of specific deliverables and ensuring the TB approach is coherent and efficient. Also represent TB on CIB and CDO Data Management working groups to ensure proposed initiatives / solutions are fit for purpose and address risk reduction.

Strategy

  • To ensure control over data, protecting it from unauthorized access, and complying with local regulations. This includes 
  • Data Storage and Processing within specified jurisdictions.
    Compliance with local data protections (Ex: GDPR)
  • Access controls and encryption
  • Data Residency and localization 
    Governance framework for data management
  • Also helping the business function on: - 

Mitigating data breaches and unauthorised access
Ensure regulatory compliance.
Protect different data categories according to business needs.

Business

  • Work by the highest standards of ethics, including regulatory and business conduct, across Standard Chartered Bank. This includes understanding and ensuring compliance with, in letter and spirit, all applicable laws, regulations, guidelines and the Group Code of Conduct.
    Monitor, review and report on key control metrics / risk profile related to Data Management across the TB Business.  

Processes

  • Shape and drive Book of Work items to remediate regulatory and audit commitments across TB Data Risks, managing prioritization, defining, and driving delivery of risk treatment plans, assessing, and reporting progress and risk.
    Assist all TB Cash and Trade teams to perform the Data Risk Assessment through the DRA tool for any new implementation or process amendment.
    Escalate risks to management or relevant committees in a timely manner. Make recommendations for improvements/changes based on the developed insights.

People & Talent

  • Foster trust and confidence among stakeholders by demonstrating strong commitment to Data Standards and responsible data handling.
    Work with relevant stakeholders to simplify and templatise Group standards and accompanying Country Addenda / Schedule to facilitate operationalization of the standards within TB e.g. Data Sovereignty
    Actively participate in a strong knowledge sharing and collaborative culture. Raise awareness about the importance of Data Management through education, training and other awareness program.

Skills and Experience

Risk Management

  • Partner with Risk Framework Owners/Process Owners to ensure First Line Business & Functions perform Data related Risk & Controls Self-Assessment (“RCSA”) at the required frequency intervals; provide challenge to the risk assessments performed where required; and assess adequacy of controls / in managing their Data risk.
    To conduct a detailed risk assessment on the risks identified on cash and trade applications in collaboration with Risk Framework Owners (RFOs) and document the same in M7.
    Drive superior risk outcomes and risk culture for Data Management in TB
    rive completion of key milestones for TB in collaboration with TB/CIB Group Data teams and in accordance with the Risk Remediation Plan / Risk Treatment Plan as appropriate.

Governance 

  • Effectively and collaboratively identify, escalate, mitigate, and resolve risk, conduct and compliance matters.
  • Attend relevant Data forums and committees, contributing inputs on data risks as relevant. 
  • Provide feedback on any changes being proposed to the Data policies and underlying standards that impact TB.
  • Adhering to data sovereignty standards and policies and procedures for data collections, use and sharing practises.
  • Keep abreast of regulatory changes / updates in the Data Management space through participation in Forums and align / escalate to Group teams.

Qualifications

•    Ability to multi-task and manage stakeholders at various levels (both senior and working level)
•    Strong in both written and verbal communication 
•    Self-motivated go-getter with optimistic attitude and enthusiastic learner with broad shoulders
•    Courageous and able to challenge the status quo.
•    Experience working in data management projects and data governance in a distributed agile environment.
•    In-depth understanding of data management obligations and control frameworks 
•    Experience working with either the second or third line in an organisation.
•    Knowledge in records digitalisation/ imaging technology, industry records management tooling/solutions.
