Role Overview:
As a Quantexa Data Engineer at Standard Chartered, you will be entrusted with the crucial responsibility of designing and maintaining robust, scalable data pipelines that underpin critical business insights and operational efficiencies. Leveraging your expertise in big data technologies and strategic architecture design principles, you will assemble complex data sets aligned with both functional and non-functional requirements, ensuring these facilitate actionable analytics across various business domains.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategy: Apply strategic architectural standards to construct optimal data pipelines that support diverse business intelligence and reporting needs.
  • Business Analytics: Collaborate with analytics teams to develop tools that transform raw data into meaningful insights which enhance decision-making and liquidity management.
  • Process Improvements: Continuously identify opportunities to automate manual tasks, optimize data delivery systems, and re-engineer infrastructure to scale effectively with business growth.
  • People and Culture: Promote a culture of innovation, accountability, and learning within your teams by setting a strong example and fostering skill development aligned with evolving technologies and bank-wide initiatives.
  • Risk Management: Engage actively in identifying and mitigating risks associated with data quality and system reliability, ensuring controls are effectively implemented based on financial data insights.

  • Support and Maintenance: Provide ongoing production support and swiftly respond to incidents, audit findings, and risk issues to sustain platform availability and compliance.

This role demands a proactive and meticulous approach to not only deliver technical solutions but also to ensure quality, security, and alignment with Standard Chartered's mission and compliance standards.

Qualifications and Technical Expertise:

We seek a seasoned Quantexa Certified Data Engineer with a minimum of 4 years' hands-on experience in building and managing data solutions within the Hadoop ecosystem utilizing Spark and Scala. Your proficiency in cloud-managed container platforms such as AWS EKS and Azure AKS, alongside microservices architecture deployed on Kubernetes, is essential for seamlessly integrating modern data engineering practices.

  • Expertise in Spark and Scala for complex data processing tasks.
  • Deep understanding of cloud platforms, specifically AWS Elastic Kubernetes Service (EKS) and Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS).
  • Experience building and maintaining Microservices, with knowledge of OpenShift Container Platform is advantageous.
  • Robust knowledge of Hadoop ecosystem and related components.
  • Familiarity with search and analytics engines such as ElasticSearch, and relational databases like PostgreSQL.
  • Domain experience in Trade Risk and Anti-Money Laundering (AML) processes is highly valued.
  • Proficiency with both traditional ETL and modern analytics pipeline methodologies.

Desirable Enhancements:

Experience or training in Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence techniques is appreciated but not mandatory, providing a pathway for leveraging advanced analytics within the banking environment.

Holding active certification as a Quantexa Data Engineer demonstrates a commitment to maintaining expertise in data engineering tools and techniques aligned with industry standards.
