Job Summary

The Senior Development Lead (Grade 6) is a strategic technical leader responsible for driving end-to-end solution delivery within the Contract Management Programme in CCIB's Client Coverage domain. This role combines deep technical expertise with strong leadership capabilities to deliver scalable, secure, and high-performance solutions that support Standard Chartered’ s corporate and investment banking operations.

Key Responsibilities

Core work in agile squad
Squad Leadership & Delivery
•    Sprint Planning & Execution: Lead sprint planning sessions, ensuring realistic commitments and optimal resource allocation across development streams
•    Backlog Management: Collaborate with Product Owner to prioritize and refine backlog items, ensuring alignment with business objectives and technical feasibility
•    Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with Business Analysts, QA Engineers, DevOps, and Infrastructure teams to ensure seamless delivery
•    Delivery Accountability: Own end-to-end delivery of complex features and epics, ensuring quality, timeline adherence, and stakeholder satisfaction
•    Risk Management: Proactively identify technical and delivery risks, implementing mitigation strategies and escalating when necessary

Agile Practices
•    Scrum Ceremonies: Facilitate daily standups, retrospectives, and sprint reviews, driving continuous improvement
•    Velocity Optimization: Monitor and optimize team velocity through effective task breakdown and impediment removal
•    Definition of Done: Establish and maintain clear DoD criteria, ensuring consistent quality standards
•    Continuous Improvement: Drive adoption of best practices, tools, and methodologies to enhance team productivity

Java/J2EE Development
•    Enterprise Architecture: Design and implement scalable Java enterprise applications using J2EE patterns and frameworks
•    Code Quality: Establish coding standards, conduct code reviews, and ensure adherence to SOLID principles and design patterns
•    Performance Optimization: Implement performance tuning strategies, memory management, and JVM optimization
•    Legacy Modernization: Lead migration initiatives from legacy systems to modern Java platforms

Spring Boot Framework
•    Microservices Architecture: Design and develop microservices using Spring Boot, ensuring loose coupling and high cohesion
•    Spring Ecosystem: Leverage Spring Security, Spring Data, Spring Cloud for comprehensive application development
•    Configuration Management: Implement externalized configuration using Spring profiles and cloud config
•    Testing Strategy: Implement comprehensive testing using Spring Boot Test, MockMvc, and TestContainers

React Frontend Development
•    Component Architecture: Design reusable React components following modern patterns (hooks, context, state management)
•    State Management: Implement complex state management using Redux, Context API, or modern alternatives
•    UI/UX Implementation: Collaborate with UX teams to implement responsive, accessible user interfaces
•    Performance Optimization: Implement code splitting, lazy loading, and performance monitoring

PostgreSQL Database
•    Database Design: Design normalized database schemas, implement indexing strategies, and optimize query performance
•    Data Migration: Lead database migration projects, ensuring data integrity and minimal downtime
•    Performance Tuning: Optimize database performance through query optimization, connection pooling, and caching strategies
•    Backup & Recovery: Implement robust backup and disaster recovery procedures

Solution design & design patterns
Architecture Leadership
•    Solution Architecture: Lead architectural decisions for complex business requirements, ensuring scalability, maintainability, and security
•    Design Patterns: Apply and evangelize appropriate design patterns (Factory, Observer, Strategy, Command, etc.) across the development team
•    Technology Evaluation: Assess and recommend new technologies, frameworks, and tools aligned with bank strategy
•    Documentation: Create and maintain comprehensive technical documentation, including architecture diagrams, API specifications, and design decisions

System Integration
•    API Design: Design RESTful APIs following open API specifications, ensuring consistency and reusability
•    Integration Patterns: Implement enterprise integration patterns for seamless system connectivity
•    Data Architecture: Design data flow architectures ensuring data consistency, security, and compliance
•    Cloud Strategy: Contribute to cloud adoption strategies, implementing cloud-native patterns and practices

•    Business Analysis: Collaborate with business stakeholders to understand contract lifecycle management requirements
