Job Summary

    SCB’s Common Engineering Platform aims to provide excellent developer experience by collaborating with architecture and chapters. The platform product specialist role is at the centre of providing top notch experience to the developers.
    Common Engineering is a strategic focus for WRB. The business objective is to deliver efficiency by creating secure, simple to use, well documented and reusable artefacts.
    The candidate should be able to lead product development, enhancement of existing products/features and product management for API Gateways in-line with the overall group platform strategy. 


RESPONSIBILITIES
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Engineer to join our team as an API Gateway Product Specialist. In this role, you will be responsible for supporting the development, implementation, and maintenance of our API Gateway solutions. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure the efficient operation and enhancement of our API Gateway services, contributing to the seamless integration and performance of our products.
•    API Gateway Development and Maintenance:
o    Assist in the design, development, and deployment of API Gateway solutions.
o    Perform routine maintenance and updates to ensure optimal performance and security.
o    Monitor API Gateway performance metrics and troubleshoot issues as they arise.
•    Technical Support:
o    Provide technical support for API Gateway-related queries and issues.
o    Collaborate with development teams to resolve technical problems and improve API Gateway functionality.
o    Document technical solutions and best practices for internal and external stakeholders.
•    Integration and Testing:
o    Assist in the integration of APIs with various systems and applications.
o    Conduct testing to ensure APIs are functioning correctly and meeting performance standards.
o    Work with QA teams to develop and execute test plans for API Gateway services.
•    Collaboration and Communication:
o    Work closely with product managers, developers, and other stakeholders to understand requirements and deliver solutions.
o    Participate in team meetings and contribute to project planning and execution.
o    Communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical team members.
•    Continuous Improvement:
o    Stay updated on the latest trends and technologies in API Gateway solutions.
o    Propose and implement improvements to enhance the efficiency and reliability of API Gateway services.
o    Participate in training and development opportunities to grow your technical skills.

Country Product teams, Domain Architects, Enterprise Technology team, Group Cross-Functional product teams, Group Risk and Control team, External partners, and stakeholders

Skills and Experience

API Gateway, preferably Kong and Axway
Core Java (essential), Spring Boot, Openshift
Experience with git and Atlassian toolset.
Agile development

Qualifications

•    Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
•    Basic understanding of API Gateway concepts and technologies.
•    Familiarity with programming languages such as Java, Python, or JavaScript.
•    Knowledge of RESTful APIs, SOAP, and other web services.
•    Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) is a plus.
•    Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
•    Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
•    Eagerness to learn and adapt in a fast-paced environment
