Job Summary
The sub-domain lead is responsible for managing the Data & Visualisation and lead the horizontal Data Analyst teams in the delivery of the strategic data platform across BI & Analytics for Wealth & Retail Banking client segments unifying data infrastructure, platforms and products.
• Lead Project Managers, Data Analyst that work with data generated by our clients & internal users to create data products that directly serve this community better and to internally enable our data driven culture and decision making. This role is critical to fulfilling the ever-increasing expectations & demands of our clients of an “always on”, personalized & seamless banking experience fuelled by large scale digitization across industries.
• Partner with business & technology teams on strategy and vision for the banks data platform, designing, engineering, and implementing schemas, tooling and pipelines and lead teams in the delivery of this agenda. In doing so, the role will champion data accuracy, quality, availability, usability and impact.
• Collaborate closely from an engineering & build standpoint with Product Owners across BI & Analytics, Marketing technologies, Open Banking and Partnerships to fully build and integrate solutions that achieve and exceed business goals.
• Pivotal role in ensuring our capabilities on data are well integrated with internal & external hybrid ecosystems spanning on-premises & cloud platforms, deploying a combination of batch & real-time interfaces over file & API based ingestion & consumption incorporating all necessary cyber security controls and comprehensibly managed from a risk & controls standpoint. This foundational engineering will become key to being a differentiator in this digital age.

Key Responsibilities
Business
• Drive towards a standardised, modern, automated, fully available and observable runtime platform for WRB apps, including support practices, ensuring alignment with global standards
• Trusted advisor to the business. Work hand in hand with the Business, taking product programs from investment decisions, into design, specification, and solution phases, all the way to operations on the ground and securing support services from other teams.
• Deliver, monitor and review technology & data solutions that will help improve key business metrices – e.g. client NPI, business ROTE, Client Service Availability metrics etc.
• Dedicates 100% of their capacity to the Sub Domain’s goals and outcomes.
• Take full responsibility for all the applications that are owned by the Sub Domain.
• Guide the Engineering Leads to ensure the technical consistency of solutions in the Hive with the business architecture.
• Lead architecture evaluations during RFPs for technology tools and service providers.
• Exhibit passion for client experience with a user & data-first mindset.
• Drive the sub domain towards future state of banking and data technology.
Processes
• Support the continuous improvement to increase operation efficiency and effectiveness across the domains and key business processes associated with the domain
• Support the delivery of the business strategies in a safe and self-controlled manner and on an end to end manner
• Advocating for the allocation of resources to support strategic initiatives within the hives.
• Ensures safe management, onboarding processes and other key business processes are applied effectively
• Study existing engineering processes and contribute to improvements to drive up efficiencies. Present ideas across other areas and foster innovation.
• Solve potential interdependencies between platforms / systems.
• Participate in the quarterly planning for the Sub Domain and provide steer along with Chief Product Owner.
• Provide inputs and guidance on technology budget and costs for the Hive.
• Responsible in the preparation of production outputs and their planning in alignment to ESDLC standards.

Risk Management
• Creates awareness and understanding of the regulatory framework and risk environment in which the Group operates
• Ensures adherence with the highest standards of ethics and compliance with relevant policies, process, and regulations
• Act as the risk control owner under the Group’s risk management framework
• Responsible for effective risk management across all initiatives planed for the hive.

• Represent the domain in relevant governance & risk committees – e.g. NFRC
• Delivery of conduct plan across region and relevant technology forums
• Ensure that the GRAM risk rating for the domain is maintained
• Represent the Hive and contribute to the governance forums like RF, QPR etc.
• Ensure that other leaders in the Hive and across Hives are sufficiently involved in the Hives interaction events like quarterly planning, show & tells etc.
Qualifications
Requirements & Skills
- 15+ years of relevant experience as a hands-on senior data engineering leader, covering implementation of large-scale data technology programmes operating at the Group level of sizeable international companies, with strong experience in the Banking & Finance sector covering Consumer Banking products, banking regulatory programmes (e.g., BCBS 239, Data Privacy Controls) and sustainable finance is preferred.
- Successful track record of developing and leading data teams via mentorship and coaching diverse, multi-cultural engineers and engineering managers. Experience in open-source data products, query optimization, resource management, and data lake/warehouse constructs across cloud and on-premises infrastructure. Understanding of distributed compute engines (e.g., Presto, Spark) and modern Big-Data storage technologies.
- International exposure, ability to handle cultural diversity and developing high performers are essential to this role.
