Job Summary

Lead, BPO Investment Finance FP&A Lead is a key Leadership role driving the Compliance, Controls and Governance for the Plan to Perform Investment Finance function, working for and with GPO BPO & Group Controller

This role will drive the implementation of an effective, efficient, and well controlled global process model, and drive standardisation of processes and policies globally, service tiering and the delivery of process tools and capabilities across the Finance and Finance Operations organisation.  

The role will interface extensively with senior Finance management at Fin Ops, GPO, GPMs, BPO Business & Segment Heads, and CFOs to deliver the Target Operating Model and build a sustainable and forward-looking finance organisation. 

Key Responsibilities

•    Overseeing and providing management support for the assigned unit.
•    Ensuring that an effective system of financial and operational controls is in place and is working intended.
•    Ensuring that a continuous process and efficiency improvement culture is embedded within the function and an established process exists to constantly identify and implement improvement opportunities.
•    Monitoring to ensure that the standards of customer service provided by the function consistently meet or exceed the requirements set under the Service Level Agreements agreed with the customers.
•    Ensure services are delivered as per the service levels agreed; work with a cohesive team to produce the Analysis and Reports in a timely and accurate manner. Key responsibilities include timely delivery, robust analytical review of key deliverables, strengthening controls, and pro-active stakeholder engagement.
•    Responsible for the preparing and review of various MIS / Variance Analysis; work on Ad-hoc by gauging the requirements from stakeholders and vide governance activities in respect of processes managed (e.g., compilation of Key Risk Indicators, Dashboard, and Metrics etc).
•    Effectively engage with senior stakeholders / business CFOs to deliver a shared agenda of improvements / enhancements.
•    Develop key people management and stakeholder management skills to move into People Manager / SME roles. 
•    Independent and Confident, able to work under pressure and handle multiple tasks.

Strategy

•    Challenge processes in order to achieve more effective processes and efficiency saves to the Organization. Participate and give suggestions in the transformation programmes focusing on elimination of waste and building scale; work with Change management teams to drive automation and simplification of processes.
•    Collaborate with other functions in GFS to increase the effectiveness and efficiency of the business unit.
•    Comply, Validate and Report all Key Performance Indicators within the overall service delivery framework. This includes identification, measurement, monitoring and control of all thresholds set as part of Governance Framework of the bank. Any breaches of the above framework are promptly highlighted to the line manager.
•    Ensure Ops risk monitoring across all processes covered by the team and report key risks emanating from them to right forums.
•    Ensure complete compliance with Group Code of Conduct and Social agenda of the organization.

Business

•    Partner with various stakeholders in responding to management reporting and analysis demand 
•    Continuously prioritise demand and rally FP&A resources to deliver insights and MI at scale and speed to CFO/FP&A Head 
•    Demonstrate deep knowledge of the financial context beyond numbers which includes but not limited to historical restatements, Intra group transactions and underlying risk and opportunity factors 
•    Management Audits effectively 

People & Talent

•    Lead by example and establish the right culture, values in the team and able to build a high performing team. Motivate people, able to retain talents / high performing resources 
•    Lead and manage the team and to develop the staff to take up different/more value-added roles 
•    Contribute to any ad-hoc finance related projects, including providing support to Finance Transformation initiatives as well as simplification of bank processes 
•    Front end the initiatives, strategic change agenda for Investment Finance to bring improvement, create capacity and efficient processes 

Risk Management

•    Manage the overall Risk profile for BPO processes; Represent the function in key Risk Forums
•    Reinforce an effective and exemplary risk and control culture and further strengthen the control environment, ensure that specialist knowledge and skills are assigned to relevant needs.
•    Act to minimize operational loss and audit failures and take proactive measures to respond to matters arising and identify and manage forward looking risks. 
•    Work with relevant teams to identify and mitigate identified operational risks in their areas.
•    Through assignment of direct and indirect reports, establish and maintain an appropriate framework and procedures for monitoring, identifying, measuring, assessing, reporting, and managing compliance, regulatory, financial crime, operational and reputational risks

Governance
•    Deliver and effective and transparent Software Balance Sheet Management & Reporting mechanism that is aligned to our Target Operating Model 
•    Enable an optimised Governance process and management of end-to-end delivery
•    Represent Investment Finance / BPO during Service Review engagements with CFOs, provide management insights and address any CFO level actions from the Review meetings

•    Take personal responsibility for embedding the highest standards of ethics, including regulatory and business conduct, across Standard Chartered Bank. •    Lead the  Investment Finance team  to achieve the outcomes set out in the Bank’s Conduct Principles.

Qualifications

•    Chartered Accountant / MBA with 10-15 years of Post Qualification Experience
•    Strong leadership and interpersonal skills in networking and influencing decisions taken in the business and in infrastructure teams. 
•    Strategic mindset and with a good understanding of Banking business. 
•    Strong analytical skills and ability to make decisions. 
•    Excellent business judgment, operational control management and risk assessment. 
•    Experience in change and programme management and self-awareness to adopt varying approaches for different stakeholder dynamics. 
•    Experience of managing operational businesses and infrastructure teams 
•    Results orientation, exceptional energy, and ambition to drive systems, technology and process changes across geographies
