Key Responsibilities

Strategy
•    Primarily responsible for deal origination and working closely with the Credit analyst (CA) and Client Coverage Managers (CCM) in deepening relationships and driving revenue growth.
•    Responsible for account maintenance and managing risks associated with the portfolio to ensure that no unexpected events contribute to Audit Failures.

Business
Origination
•    Identify prospects and convert in line with Bank's stipulated strategy, policies and risk appetite.
•    Ensure quality of sales pitches and that products are pitched in line with client appropriateness. Ensure all Term sheets are reviewed prior to delivering to clients.
•    Work with CA to obtain all pre-deal clearances required.
•    Ensure pipeline management is up to date and reflects all opportunities being worked on. Ensure all client interactions are recorded and call reports filed with the relevant information.
•    Work with CMT to ensure seamless onboarding of clients. 
•    Ensure senior client calling and updates on a regular basis. Ensure all stakeholders are engaged as appropriate for client relationship management.

Processes
Client Onboarding & Deal Execution
•    Work closely with CA, product partners, GAM/FAM teams to analyse client wallet size, appropriateness of products and complete comprehensive account plans.
•    Ensure appropriate negotiations and closure of pricing and other deal dynamics.
•    Work together with CA to ensure quality and turnaround of credit proposals to ensure timely delivery. Work with CA to resolve credit queries.
•    Work with CMT to ensure required documentation and security creation is completed in a timely manner. Timely liaising with Legal/ External counsel/ CRC for preparation and execution of nonstandard complex transactions along with product partners.

•    Ensure Client Due Diligence is completed in a timely and quality manner to ensure Bank is protected from associated risks.
•    Together with product partners, ensure line utilization is maximized for BAU limits. Ensure utilization is achieved for all complex and structured transaction solutions provided.
•    Review Failed Trade status, EAR, ASTAR etc together with the CA/CMT to ensure discipline and quality in portfolio.
•    Review the excess / past due situation with CCM to ensure they are regularized and facilitate approvals wherever required.
•    Review and monitor the client profitability to ensure there are no revenue leakages.

•    Take the Initiative regarding regulatory, reputational and ethical matters and provide proactive advice to clients on these issues.
•    Embed the Group's values and code of conduct and ensure adherence to the highest standards of ethics and compliance with relevant policies, processes and regulations, both personally and (where relevant) among team members.
•    Awareness and understanding of the regulatory framework in which country operates and the regulatory requirements and expectations relevant to the role.

Governance
AML/Compliance
•    Ensure all AML/Customer Due Diligence policies and procedures per group and the local regulator are adhered to in opening, reviewing, and monitoring accounts. Ensure zero tolerance method for this aspect, within the business as appropriate. Report any breaches or suspicious persons/relationships.
•    Ensure compliance with local controls and regulations, Group Code of Conduct, Money Laundering
•    Prevention Policies and Procedures / CDD guidelines in prevention of frauds, forgeries and losses
•    Ensure compliance with Group's Health and Safety Policies and Procedures

Regulatory & Business Conduct
•    Display exemplary conduct and live by the Group’s Values and Code of Conduct. 
•    Take personal responsibility for embedding the highest standards of ethics, including regulatory and business conduct, across Standard Chartered Bank. This includes understanding and ensuring compliance with, in letter and spirit, all applicable laws, regulations, guidelines and the Group Code of Conduct.
•    Effectively and collaboratively identify, escalate, mitigate and resolve risk, conduct and compliance matters.

Qualifications

•    Business or accounting related degree. 
•    Mba/aca/bsc/bba/cima preferred.
•    Minimum 7 years' experience in a corporate banking environment of which minimum 2 years should be of managing corporate client relationships.
•    Sound understanding of corporate treasury products, trade finance products, consumer banking products and international banking products.
•    Strong credit appraisal and marketing skills, with the ability to interpret complex financial information.
•    A good understanding of the general, economic, political and business environment of sri lanka.
•    Excellent communication (written and verbal) and negotiation skills.
•    High quality experience in a credit management position with proven ability to manage a team / work in a team.
