Job Summary

This role is responsible for leading all communications and marketing activities for Sri Lanka market at the same time as acting as a strategic advisor to the CEO and members of the country management team. 

RESPONSIBILITIES


Strategy
•    Work closely with Country Client Business Heads to define and implement Corporate Affairs and Brand & Marketing (CABM) strategies for the country while ensuring alignment to Group and Region Strategy.
•    Ensure understanding and effectively communicate the Group and Regional strategy to country teams by having a clear governance framework.
•    Responsible/Accountable for the management and implementation of key strategical & tactical projects and ensure that these are on time, on budget and within the agreed scope while working with function teams and their management across the Bank.
•    Ensure that Brand strategy framework is well integrated by all teams (e.g., brand positioning, brand architecture), notably by internal and external communications team, and the correct usage of communications platforms to reinforce the overall SC brand positioning through consistency in tone, manner, look and feel.
•    Have ambitious targets for the markets in scope (e.g., increase Brand awareness and consideration, Brand positioning, etc.). 

Business
•    Accountable to the Country CEO, and Country Client Business Heads to drive their strategies, whilst maintain and balancing Group wide standards.
•    Lead the function to develop plans for Corporate Affairs and Brand & Marketing disciplines, delivering quality activities to drive exceptional client and corporate level experience backed up by well-designed actionable metrics that are used for future decision making.
•    Drive digital strategy and effective use of digital platform across the Bank.

Processes
•    Ensure that controls (e.g., KCSA - Key Control Self Assessments) and CABM operational risk standards are well documented and that these are in line with Group’s guidelines.
•    Follow key trends and leverage on best market practice solutions to ensure productivity of teams and efficiency of processes.

People & Talent
•    Follow CABM people & talent framework to build a dynamic and strong team of CABM professionals.
•    Enhance leadership skills and create a culture of talent development and empowerment within the different teams and across countries. 
•    Promote a culture of mentoring/coaching in order to have a cohesive team and continuously develop management and soft skills required for the different roles. 

Governance & Risk Management
•    Acting as First Line of Defence to ensure that Risk Management Framework is proactively followed by all teams (i.e., Group and local policies and standards) so that potential reputational and operational risks are dully identified, escalated and mitigated.
•    Set the right tone and expectations for the team and their area of responsibility for the risk management culture and conduct, and proactively seek regular assurance that their area of responsibility is being performed to an acceptable risk and control standard.  
•    Coordinate issues and crisis communications at country level.

Regulatory & Business Conduct
•    Maintain high awareness and understanding of global regulatory framework in which the business operates, and the regulatory requirements and expectations relevant to the role.
•    Display exemplary conduct and live by the Group’s Values and Code of Conduct. 
•    Take personal responsibility for embedding the highest standards of ethics, including regulatory and business conduct, across Standard Chartered Bank. This includes understanding and ensuring compliance with, in letter and spirit, all applicable laws, regulations, guidelines and the Group Code of Conduct.
