Job Summary
Group Internal Audit & Investigations (GIAI) at Standard Chartered Bank is seeking an Audit Manager to join the Technology and Operations (Transaction Banking) audit team. This role involves conducting comprehensive audits of payments operations and supporting technology, offering independent assurance over global transaction banking activities within a complex, multi-jurisdictional banking environment. Collaborating closely with stakeholders across Operations, Technology, Risk, and Compliance, the Audit Manager will provide clear, evidence-based insights to assist senior management and the Board in understanding technology and operational risks, control effectiveness, and emerging issues.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead risk-based audits across the payments value chain, covering initiation, processing, clearing, settlement and reconciliation.
- Assess the design and effectiveness of governance, risk management and internal controls across payment operations, systems and infrastructure.
- Evaluate technology and application risks, including access management, data integrity, system interfaces, change management, resilience, incident management and exception handling.
- Use data analytics and technology-enabled audit techniques to identify control gaps, gather evidence and highlight systemic and emerging risks.
- Conduct ongoing risk assessments to identify emerging risks across products, channels, technology, infrastructure, regulation and operating models.
- Prepare clear, timely audit reports, communicate findings effectively and provide constructive challenge to management on risk and control matters.
- Track management action plans and follow up to ensure audit issues are remediated effectively and on time.
- Partner with internal audit colleagues and business stakeholders to deliver coordinated audit coverage and broader enterprise-wide risk insight.
- Support delivery of the Group Internal Audit plan and contribute to continuous improvement through quality, methodology and team collaboration.
- Maintain current knowledge of technology, operational risk, regulatory developments and industry practices, while upholding high standards of ethics, compliance and business conduct.

Qualifications and Experience
- Minimum 4 years’ experience in external audit (Big 4 or equivalent) and/or internal audit, preferably within banking or financial services.
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Finance, Accounting, Business, Information Systems, Technology or a related discipline.
- Professional certifications such as CISA or CIA are advantageous.
- Strong understanding of end-to-end transaction banking operations, including initiation, processing, clearing, settlement, reconciliation and exception handling.
- Solid understanding of technology and operational risks, including operational resilience, processing errors, fraud risk, sanctions screening, regulatory compliance and third-party dependencies.
- Experience auditing applications and technology controls that support key business processes.
- Experience evaluating the design and operating effectiveness of controls across governance, risk management and technology environments.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail, with the ability to translate complex information into clear, well-supported audit conclusions.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate payments, technology and control risks into clear, business-focused insights for senior management.
- Strong problem-solving and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work effectively across Operations, Product, Technology, Risk and Compliance teams.
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple audit activities concurrently and deliver to agreed timelines.
- Hands-on experience with data analysis and visualisation tools such as Power BI, Tableau or Excel is advantageous.
