Job Summary

Standard Chartered is investing significantly in its Transformational capabilities to improve the Digital experience of Clients and colleagues whilst increasing efficiency. AI and related tech advancements are  at the heart of a series of projects to transform Transaction Banking (TB) Operations. The AI Product Owner is responsible for driving the development and deployment of AI and automation solutions, and play key role in transforming Cash  Operations to adapt latest tech.

The role focuses on delivering measurable efficiency, accuracy, and client-experience improvements across payments and cash management operations — through responsible and scalable use of AI technologies.
The ideal candidate combines deep understanding of transaction banking processes with practical knowledge of data, analytics, and machine learning lifecycle management.
The Cash AI Product Owner will work closely with Programme delivery teams, Technology teams, Client service teams, and Product and Channels teams, to ensure Programme scope is delivered on time, on budget and with high quality outcomes for clients, frontline and operations teams.

Key Responsibilities

AI and tech Strategy & Product Vision
•    Define and own the AI product roadmap for Transaction Banking Operations in alignment with the bank’s digital and operational-excellence strategy.
•    Identify and prioritise use cases where AI and intelligent automation (e.g. NLP, machine vision, LLMs, process intelligence) can deliver step-change improvements in productivity, control, and service quality.
•    Develop product business cases with quantified cost savings, capacity creation, and risk-reduction metrics. Define success metrics and monitor the performance and impact of AI solutions.

Product Ownership & Delivery
•    Translate operational pain points into clear AI product requirements and maintain a prioritised backlog.
•    Work closely with Business stakeholders, Data Scientist, Engineers, and Operations teams to prototype, validate, and industrialise AI models for successful product delivery.
•    Manage agile delivery sprints, ensuring timely delivery, compliance with internal AI governance, and alignment with operational KPIs.
•    Oversee post-deployment monitoring, retraining, and performance optimisation of models.
•    The execution and successful implementation is key success criteria for his role.

Operational Impact & Adoption
•    Partner with Operations leads to embed AI solutions into business processes (e.g. exception management, payments investigation, sanctions screening, document verification, reconciliations).
•    Define and track adoption metrics: straight-through-processing (STP) uplift, cycle-time reduction, error-rate reduction, and cost-per-transaction impact. Ensure tangible outcome i.e. efficiency targets are well defined & delivered. 
•    Lead change-management and communication plans to ensure user acceptance and process integration.

Governance, Risk & Compliance
•    Ensure adherence to global AI and model-risk policies (e.g. explainability, fairness, auditability, model validation).
•    Liaise with Legal, Compliance, and Data Privacy to ensure responsible data usage in all AI initiatives.
•    Maintain comprehensive documentation for all model approvals, deployment records, and regulatory reviews.

Stakeholder & Vendor Management
•    Serve as the single point of accountability between Operations, Data Science, Technology, and Transformation teams.
•    Manage relationships with external AI solution vendors and partners, ensuring delivery quality and alignment with internal standards.
•    Influence senior management and governance committees through evidence-based reporting and insights.

Core Competencies
•    Domain Knowledge Deep understanding of transaction banking operations (payments, liquidity, trade, cash management, reconciliations)
•    AI / Data Expertise Working knowledge of ML, NLP, and GenAI applications for process automation and decision support.  The knowledge of advance tech stacks will be added advantage.
•    Product Leadership Proven experience defining product roadmaps, owning backlogs, and managing agile delivery teams
•    Operational Acumen Ability to map complex processes, quantify improvement opportunities, and design measurable solutions
•    Stakeholder Influence Excellent communication and negotiation skills with cross-functional and senior stakeholders
•    Governance Mindset Strong understanding of model-risk, data-privacy, and regulatory compliance frameworks
•    Change Leadership Skilled at driving adoption, training, and cultural change in operational environments

•    % increase in operational efficiency (e.g. FTE capacity released, STP uplift).
•    Reduction in manual touchpoints and exceptions.
•    Time-to-market for AI products.
•    Model performance (accuracy, precision, false-positive reduction).
•    Regulatory and model-risk compliance rating.
•    User adoption and satisfaction scores within Operations.
               

Qualifications

•    EDUCATION: Degree in Business, Data Science, or Technology. 
•    Master’s or advanced degree preferred.
•    CERTIFICATIONS: Required:  CSPO, PSPO or equivalent
•    Preferred:  PMP, PMI, Prince2, PROSCI or equivalent
•    LANGUAGES: English 

Skills and Experience

7–10 years’ experience in product management, transformation, or analytics within banking operations.
Prior exposure to transaction banking, payments operations, or trade finance required.
Experience delivering AI / automation / intelligent process transformation projects in global or regulated environments.
