Job Summary
The Structured Solutions Development team (SSD) is a team within the TB Trade and Working Capital, which is responsible for origination, negotiation and structuring of bespoke or Structured trade finance solutions to meet our client needs. This team drives Industry sector specialisation for Trade and Working capital and help SC retain and grow wallet share.
Consulting with client, industry thought leadership and specialist knowledge of solutions is the way the team members drive origination and then lead with structuring and negotiation of solutions.
As a lead for industry strategy, you will be responsible to help develop the strategy and commercialisation plan in Trade and Working Capital for the target industry sectors.
Key Responsibilities
Strategy
- Work with the Global Head STS and the Global Industry sector leads to develop and detail the industry drivers, nuances and strategy for trade and working capital across all the target sectors.
- Develop a plan for successful execution of the strategy in the regions.
- Work on mapping the horizontal and vertical ecosystems of industry segments and subsegments.
Business
Solutions Development and Delivery
- Based on the broader understanding of industry and solution, identify opportunities or situations within an industry or client.
- Work with the global industry leads to provide inputs into the product managers on key requirements to be developed or deviations which are BAU and don’t need exception approvals
- Look at forward looking solutions and work on thought leadership across the different sectors
Financial Management – Product P/L Management
- Help to deliver budget of the various sectors by working with the global industry leads:
- Revenue (existing and new revenue streams) [FY 2026 $ M]
- Replication of solutions across clients in the sector [ nos ]
- Develop industry plans for the sectors and sub sectors
- Develop a marketing and commercialisation plan and execute these in different regions
Risk Management
• To be able to articulate to the client, risk and other relevant teams on how a proposed solutions meets client needs, enable it to be more efficient, enable it to grow and scale its business, mitigate its risks and how it helps in a wider investor participation for a financing where required.
• Ensures adherence with the highest standards of ethics, and compliance with relevant policies, processes and regulations
Regulatory and Business Conduct
• Display exemplary conduct and live by the Group’s Values and Code of Conduct.
• Take personal responsibility for embedding the highest standards of ethics, including regulatory and business conduct, across Standard Chartered Bank.

Key stakeholders
SSD Regional Leads / Global Industry lead, Relationship managers and TB sales teams and their country and regional heads, Trade/Cash Product Cluster Head, CCO/SCO Risk, Heads of Legal and CFCC.

Qualifications
Core Credit and Risk Management Certification completed or to be completed within 12 months of joining the team.
Our Ideal Candidate
- 6+ years of experience of working in banks in frontline role in Corporate and investment banking and thereby understand industry nuances
- Have a strategic mindset and worked in strategy roles in banks or consulting firm
- Have worked across multiple regions and with large clients in origination and/or relationship management capacity.
- Has ability to create high quality presentation to communicate themes and key parts of a topic
- Has data analytics ability and project management skills
- Ability to work with senior stakeholders and communicate effectively
- Understands nuances of working with third party platforms/fintech
- Strong risk analysis skills
- Articulation and brevity while knowing the details is a key
