Job Summary

As a Director - Trade Momentum Advisor at Standard Chartered in Dhaka, you will play a pivotal role in proactively engaging with existing corporate clients to expand relationships and increase wallet share within Trade Finance products. You will champion client calling and on-selling initiatives to preserve and grow utilisation of Trade Finance credit lines, including Documentary Trade and Open Account facilities. This position requires a strategic mindset to collaborate with sales and product teams in defining corporate focus lists and to identify growth opportunities among both existing and prospective clients, particularly around export Letter of Credit confirmation and discounting.

You will develop adaptive client engagement plans, meticulously track outreach efforts, and translate client insights into actionable leads for upselling and cross-selling. Building strong partnerships with internal stakeholders—ranging from Product Management to Compliance—and adhering to AML, KYC, and regulatory standards are essential components of this individual contributor role.

Strategic Impact: Continually monitor client needs, market trends, and product intelligence to inform new product development while strengthening the bank's competitive edge. Your deep understanding of clients' businesses will enable you to anticipate requirements and deliver tailored Trade Finance solutions that drive commercial success.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead client relationship activities by consistently reaching out to deepen existing engagements and explore new opportunities within Trade Finance products.
  • Collaborate with sales, product, and operations teams to align on client focus lists, ensuring a holistic approach to client coverage and maximising revenue potential.
  • Develop and implement adaptive calling and follow-up strategies tailored to client portfolios, ensuring sustained growth and client satisfaction.
  • Maintain detailed and accurate records of client interactions, wins, and reasons for lost opportunities, providing constructive feedback for continued improvement.
  • Ensure full compliance with AML, KYC, and other regulatory frameworks by working closely with compliance and legal teams.
  • Engage with multiple internal stakeholders including Credit, Trade Operations, and Product Management to drive a unified approach to managing client needs and product offerings.
  • Prepare and deliver periodic reports on client engagement activities, highlighting trends, opportunities, and risks.
  • Uphold and model the highest standards of ethical behaviour consistent with the bank's values and code of conduct.

Skills and Experience

Candidates should bring a robust knowledge of Trade Finance products and demonstrate expertise in driving marketing strategy and positioning to effectively serve business markets. Proven skills in strategic and tactical planning will be key to successfully navigating evolving client expectations and market conditions. Experience or knowledge of disruptive innovation in banking and finance sectors will be advantageous in identifying new business opportunities.

An ability to analyse business performance and adjust strategies accordingly is essential. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, suitable for building relationships across diverse stakeholders, both internal and external, are paramount. The role demands resilience, a positive attitude towards feedback and rejection, and an unwavering commitment to client success and growth.

Qualifications

Qualifications and Experience:

  • A minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in Trade Finance.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Trade Finance products including Import and Export Letters of Credit, Standby Letters of Credit, Guarantees, Invoice Financing, Supplier Finance, Receivables Finance, and Working Capital solutions.
  • Prior experience in Sales, Product Management, Trade Operations, or Client Services within financial institutions is highly desirable.
  • Demonstrated ability to engage multiple stakeholders across departments to drive complex product agendas.
  • Exceptional communication skills with fluency in English and Bangla.
  • Trade-linked training and certifications will enhance candidacy
