Job Summary

Responsible to manage and drive Islamic Origination business in Assigned Region.


Key Responsibilities

Strategy
•    Develop new markets for Islamic Global Banking (“GB”) business 
•    Embed Saadiq across Corporate & Investment Banking (“CIB”) businesses 
•    Actively maintain market intelligence on different markets where Islamic products are offered and track competitor moves 

Business
•    Deliver assigned Islamic Global Banking business budget in Assigned Region / geographies
•    Jointly market/pitch, originate, structure, and distribute Islamic structured deals with key Product Teams (Capital Markets, Syndications, Infrastructure Finance, Financing Solutions, Development & Agency Finance, Financial Markets, Leveraged Finance & Private Credit) across Assigned Region 
•    Build relationships with Islamic banks/windows in the Assigned Region to expand existing business and develop new business opportunities 
•    Deepen client relationships in the Assigned Region specifically focusing on cross sell opportunities for SCB’s Islamic business  
•    Lead end to end deal execution including deal structuring, negotiating terms (pertaining to Sharia compliance) with the client and securing mandates. 
•    Seek guidance/ secure approvals from the Bank’s Shariah advisors to ensure that the transaction remains in line with Shariah compliance requirements. 
•    Develop relationships with key Islamic investors (Banks/FIs) to syndicate and distribute transactions. 
•    Identify new product requirements for Islamic GB business and co-ordinate with Product Development unit to launch new products in Assigned Region.

Processes
•    Build relationships with business partners to manage and enhance operational processes, where required.
•    Build relationships with support departments to manage and enhance operational processes, where required

Governance
•    Responsible for delivering 'effective governance'; capability to challenge fellow executives effectively; and willingness to work with any local regulators in an open and cooperative manner.
•    Zero tolerance on Shariah appropriateness and sustainability issues.

Key stakeholders

•    Work with local stakeholders such as:
-    Global Banking teams in CIB, and products.
-    Operations, Legal & Compliance, Risk, etc to ensure compliance to local regulatory & internal product & Shariah requirements.

Qualifications

•    EDUCATION     Post graduate qualification preferable in Finance and Banking 
•    TRAINING     10 years of Islamic Banking experience with specific focus on Investment Banking business including Islamic Syndications, Sukuk and Islamic structured financing products: or 
•    LANGUAGES     English (required)
