About Wealth and Retail Banking: Wealth and Retail Banking (WRB) serves more than 11 million clients in many of the world’s fastest-growing markets. Our client continuum spans from Mass Retail to Affluent, including high-net worth clients served by our Private Bank. We leverage digital banking channels with a human touch to provide clients with differentiated products and services such as deposits, payments, financing, wealth management and personalised advice. We also support small business clients with their business banking needs.
Key Responsibilities
Strategy
- Develop and execute a regional Wealth lending strategic plan across, Europe, Africa and Middle East markets with a design to ‘win’ at the country level consistent with the Global Wealth Solutions strategy within approved risk appetite.
- Management of the complete Mortgage Business of Conventional & Islamic banking division with the aim of building a sustainably profitable assets book across the EMEA region
- Conceptualize and introduce new products on an ongoing basis after assessing market potential, customer needs and competitive product range, in compliance with internal and external regulatory requirements.
- Devise and Implement effective campaigns and distribution strategies for EMEA region, making full use of local expertise and resources.
- Provide policy guidance and training support to the Country Wealth Solutions team on customer suitability, product suitability and treating customers fairly.
- Represent the Bank, with respect to the area of responsibility, acting as an interface with regulatory and government bodies where necessary
- Involve in active monthly performance monitoring across Europe, Africa and Middle East Region – Spot Areas of underperformance and take corrective action
- Strengthen SCB in the marketplace as leader of Wealth Lending by delivering and marketing a range of extensive and unique product offerings designed to meet client’s needs across all segments (Retail and Private)
Business
- Achieve portfolio growth and performance targets through management of key financial elements including Sales, Interest & Fee Incomes, Cost of Funds and other Costs, Attrition and Provisions.
- Drive portfolio profitability through management of P&L constituents. Capitalize on internal strengths and optimize utilization of resources to strategically drive product uptake and achieve organizational strategic objectives.
- Work closely with Risk Management, Collections & Recovery, Credit, Legal, & third parties (developers and dealers) to maintain portfolio risk at acceptable levels and manage portfolio performance to maximize profits.
- Manage portfolio risk by maintaining prudent lending policies aimed at acquiring from market segments with favourable performance, developing and adopting varying targeting strategies, and by developing effective processes & procedures to minimize risk.
Processes
- Develop and implement appropriate rules and guidelines to ensure that all internal and external legal, compliance and risk management requirements are met
- Review credit parameters and policies, provide feedback to management, suggest and initiate change as and when required to ensure products are competitive, and in line with changing market trends.
- Proactive reviews of policies, processes, and procedures in anticipation of changing market conditions to seize market opportunities and manage risk exposure within acceptable market standards.
People & Talent
- Lead the product management team into successful delivery of planned objectives, and set example by upholding key franchise values
- Continuously provide all the necessary support to ensure optimal employee performance and moral and drive an environment of collaboration, both within the team and across the wider Group, to ensure issues are raised and blockages are resolved in a timely manner
- Sustain a respectful, friendly, and constructive working atmosphere by encouraging honesty, responsibility, and by empowering subordinates.
- Identify subordinates needs and abilities, recommend relevant training and development programs, and facilitate career growth
Risk Management
Ensure adequate and appropriate systems and controls are in compliance with Group policies, procedures, standards and codes, including those governing all Risk types, Compliance, Technology and Operations and Finance to ensure:
- Team members are capable of performing successfully in their roles
- Clear oversight / supervision / decision making e.g. committees
- Ensure effective implementation of Risk Management framework throughout the organisation
Governance
- Provide oversight across the countries, ensuring compliance with the highest standards of regulatory conduct and compliance practices as defined by internal and external requirements.
- This includes compliance with local banking laws, other applicable laws (e.g. laws governing securities activities, company law) and anti-money laundering regulations and guidelines.
- Embed the Group’s values and code of conduct in the region to ensure that adherence with the highest standards of ethics, and compliance with relevant policies, processes and regulations among employees form part of the culture
- Engage with all audit report findings in the countries and ensure feedback is acted upon
Regulatory & Business Conduct
- Display exemplary conduct and live by the Group’s Values and Code of Conduct.
- Take personal responsibility for embedding the highest standards of ethics, including regulatory and business conduct, across Standard Chartered Bank.
- This includes understanding and ensuring compliance with, in letter and spirit, all applicable laws, regulations, guidelines and the Group Code of Conduct.

• Master’s degree in business or equivalent.
• Minimum of 10 years of banking experience with Lending / Secured product knowledge (Mortgages, Wealth Management)

• Good knowledge of banking operations, policies and procedures
