Key Responsibilities
The Innovation and Venture Designer is a senior individual contributor at the forefront of shaping what banking can become next. Reporting to and supporting the Head of Innovation and Design, this role will define, design, and deliver customer-centric digital and service experiences across the SC Ventures portfolio, turning bold ideas into ventures that can scale in market.
This is a role for someone energised by change, ambiguity, and the challenge of building in fast-moving markets. The role holder will apply human-centred design and product design expertise to unlock better customer outcomes, accelerate venture validation, and strengthen product-market fit. The role carries Director-level accountability, autonomy, and influence, working closely with venture CEOs, product leaders, engineers, and senior stakeholders to shape high-impact decisions.
Key Accountabilities
Proposition Shaping
• Support the shaping of bold, differentiated venture concepts grounded in emerging trends across AI, fintech, and digital business models.
• Apply strong commercial acumen and customer insight to focus efforts on high-potential opportunity spaces and translate them into compelling venture hypotheses.
• Work closely with venture leads, technologists, investors, and senior stakeholders to develop and refine co-created early-stage venture ideas.
• Leverage AI augmentation and modern design tools to accelerate ideation, concept development, and early prototyping.
Proposition Validation
• Turn bold venture ideas into tangible prototypes that can be tested with real users and evaluated for seed investment by the Investment Committee.
• Run fast, hands-on validation cycles to test assumptions, gather customer insight, and build robust evidence for or against investment decisions.
• Rapidly design, prototype, and iterate using modern tools including Figma and AI tools such as Claude.
• Translate complex ideas into clear, compelling narratives and artifacts that are simple, decision-ready, and investment-grade.
Product Design & Venture Build
• Apply strong UX, service design, and prototyping craft to move from ambiguity to clarity at speed, shaping intuitive and high-impact user experiences.
• Support ventures post-seed by refining early-stage product, user journeys, and experience design.
• Create prototypes and product concepts that bridge strategy, technology, and customer experience.
• Embed AI augmentation into product design to enhance user value, differentiation, and scalability.
• Ensure alignment between customer needs, business viability, and technical feasibility across early-stage product development.
Overall Mindset
• Be comfortable operating in zero-to-one environments, balancing creativity, speed, and rigour.
• Bring a solid understanding of fintech ecosystems and digital business models, with sound commercial judgment.
• Thrive in a fast-moving, experimental environment where building, testing, and learning quickly matters most..
Risk Management
• Adhere to Policies and Procedures.
• Act and escalate quickly when any risk and control weakness become apparent and ensure they are addressed within an appropriate timeframe and escalated through the relevant committees.
• Work with SCV colleagues to deliver expected business performance results within cost constraints and applicable risk/ control framework to ensure that the Group’s ability to remain within risk appetite is not materially threatened.

• Have an awareness and understanding of the regulatory framework in which the Group operates, and the regulatory requirements and expectations relevant to the role.

Qualifications
• 10+ years’ experience across facilitation, product design, product commercialisation, innovation design, UX/UI and/or consulting
• Experience working in AI augmented or automation rich product environments, leveraging AI tools or agents to accelerate discovery and delivery
• Ability to define intent, constraints, and evaluation criteria for AI generated outputs across design and innovation workflows
• Strong systems thinking: comfortable designing workflows, guardrails, and governance rather than only artefacts
• Proven track record designing complex, customer-facing digital products at scale
• Strong expertise in UX research, interaction design, visual design, and prototyping (Claude Code/Cursor in addition to Figma)
• Experience operating at Director-level influence without formal people management
• Strong understanding of agile product development and cross-functional delivery models
• Ability to clearly articulate design decisions to senior, non-design stakeholders
