Job Summary
The Associate Director, Managed Investments, plays a pivotal role in the development and delivery of a comprehensive Managed Investments (MI) platform within our Wealth Solutions proposition. This position ensures a curated suite of high-quality, compliant investment products is readily available to meet diverse client needs while fostering an environment where frontline wealth management teams are equipped to make informed portfolio allocation decisions. This role is essential in maintaining adherence to regulatory standards and supporting business growth in the Middle East region.
Strategic Leadership:
You will be responsible for shaping and advancing the MI business into a leading, best-in-class offering by continuously evolving our product range to cover all relevant asset classes and geographies aligned with client expectations. Acting as a liaison between group and country teams, you will help translate enterprise strategies into executable plans that maximize profitability and client satisfaction while ensuring sales compliance.
Driving the execution of product strategies, your efforts will directly impact assets under management (AUM) and revenue performance, as well as providing critical investment product expertise and sales support across multiple markets.
Business Impact:
You will lead initiatives to attract net new money through the consistent introduction and refinement of managed investment products responsive to evolving market demand and competitive landscapes, while complying with regulatory frameworks. Your partnership with marketing and proposition teams will enhance campaign effectiveness and product visibility. Key stakeholders, including frontline relationship managers and specialists, will benefit from your sales training facilitation, collateral development, and targeted product support to promote robust client engagement.
Remaining abreast of global investment trends, technological innovations, and changing consumer behaviors will be crucial in maintaining a competitive advantage and ensuring our portfolio remains relevant and attractive.
Key Responsibilities
Process Improvement and Operational Excellence
You will be instrumental in designing, refining, and managing processes tailored to the Managed Investments business to drive operational efficiency and an exceptional client experience. Collaboration with risk control and policy owners will be vital to implement and uphold control standards aligned with regulatory and internal requirements.
Ensuring that back-end processes supporting investment products operate effectively, with minimal errors and complaints, will be a key performance area. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to optimise turnaround times and quality of service delivery, meeting ambitious customer satisfaction goals.
Risk Management and Compliance Oversight
A strong partnership with risk teams is central to this role, as you will help embed risk procedures that keep operational and credit risk within approved limits. You will be responsible for the development and enforcement of guidelines that ensure compliance with all legal, regulatory, and internal standards.
You will also coordinate remediation activities to address any audit findings or control gaps identified by auditors or regulatory bodies, ensuring timely and effective resolution.
Governance and Regulatory Engagement
Understanding and supporting the Group's governance frameworks are crucial responsibilities. You will monitor regulatory developments and market trends to keep the business informed, and you will maintain a robust control environment that protects against compliance breaches and potential losses.
Providing clear policy guidance and product support to Wealth Management teams regionally will underpin efforts to deliver effective sales and distribution of investment products.
Skills and Experience
- Comprehensive experience in product management within the financial services sector, specifically in managed investments, mutual funds, discretionary portfolio management, or alternative investments.
- In-depth understanding of regulatory environments applicable to investment products and wealth management services across multiple jurisdictions.
- Robust investment knowledge encompassing equities, fixed income, foreign exchange, derivatives, and structured products, supported by proven analytical capabilities.
- Proficiency in market research and competitor analysis to identify trends, client needs, and emerging opportunities for product innovation and enhancement.
- Strong collaboration and communication skills enabling effective engagement with diverse teams including sales, compliance, marketing, risk, and product development.
- Evidence of successful product launch and lifecycle management, including training and supporting sales teams to achieve revenue goals.
- Technologically savvy with experience leveraging digital tools and platforms to enhance product offerings and client experience.
Qualifications
- Undergraduate degree with preferance for an MBA or a Master’s in Finance degree holder, Portfolio Management, or related discipline.
- Professional certifications such as Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA), Financial Risk Manager (FRM), or equivalent are highly desirable.
- Experience managing investment products within a financial institution, demonstrating accountability for revenue generation, product strategy, and investment risk management.
- Extensive knowledge of investment principles, including equities, bonds, mutual funds, structured products, derivatives, and currency instruments.
- Proven ability to develop and operationalise product strategies that align with corporate goals and market demands.
- Excellent interpersonal and cross-cultural communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in multicultural and diverse teams.
- Strong analytical thinking paired with adaptability and a proactive approach to market changes and innovation.
- Capable of managing multiple priorities independently, meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
