Title: Managing Director, SCP, Private Banking

Job Summary
• The role holder is primarily responsible for driving profitable growth from existing and new clients by proactively engaging the clients, understanding, and meeting their needs with the full range of Private Banking products available.
• They manage an assigned portfolio of clients within the Private Bank and focus on deepening existing relationships as well as extending the relationship further into additional new product areas to improve client value contribution.
Key Responsibilities
Strategy
• Drive profitable growth by acquiring, developing, and servicing long-term relationships with HNW clients
• Drive profitable growth through leadership of your cluster of RMs on sales management, and exercise supervisory responsibilities with a clear oversight on risk and control environment
Business
• Accountable for the performance of individual’s and the cluster’s client book.
• Develop and implement the business/sales plans for the cluster, including individual’s own book.
• Deliver NNM, AUM, and revenue growth targets and key operating metrics for the individual as well as the cluster (such as tail accounts management, client acquisition, client satisfaction, portfolio mix).
• Generate healthy pipeline of target market prospects and convert them into clients.
• Grow client portfolio size by deepening existing customer relationships.
• Implement an asset allocation in line with client needs, and model portfolios as benchmarks.
• Deliver, monitor, and review solutions to clients based on client investment profile.
• Conduct periodic reviews of client accounts in accordance with established procedures.
• Assign referrals to cluster members and work with assigned RMs to successfully close referrals.
• Act as an escalation point for clients to identify areas of concern.
• Deliver profitable growth by controlling costs and mitigating operational losses.
• Deliver positive client performance in line with client investment profiles
Processes
• Support the continuous improvement of processes to increase operational efficiency and effectiveness.
• Support the effective management of operational risks across the Business and in compliance with applicable internal policies, and external laws and regulations at a global level.
• Support the delivery of Business strategy in a safe and well-controlled manner and on an end-to-end basis.
• Ensure sales management, suitability and onboarding processes are applied appropriately
People & Talent
• Apply a sufficiently robust level of oversight and support to limit errors or malfeasance by cluster members, to drive business ethically and in compliance, and to develop the skills of their cluster members.
• Build a top cluster capable of ensuring delivery of the business’ short and longer-term objectives.
• Develop and embed a high-performance culture with specific focus on RM capability, effectiveness and productivity, through coaching and guidance to ensure the RM delivers against the financial, non-financial and risk/control objectives.
• Build an environment of collaboration within the cluster by ensuring that the issues are raised and blockages are resolved in a timely manner.
• Drive RM resourcing, performance management and recognition within the cluster.
• Identify and address the top concerns and opportunities for performance improvement in the cluster.
• Manage the cluster’s discretionary spend, expense management.
Risk Management
• Act as the first line of defence for the cluster.
• Do what is right to avoid reputational risks and operational losses.
• Understand the risk and control environment within area of responsibility and drive rectification as required.
• Clear structures of accountability to ensure that cluster members are capable of performing successfully in their roles.
• Ensure effective implementation of Risk Management framework in the cluster (risk appetite is clear and integral to the strategy with appropriate controls, and having effective processes in place to identify, manage, monitor, and report risk).
• Handle customer issues, complaints, and product enquiries on timely basis in accordance with established procedures. Support RMs within the cluster with the same.
• Ensure that Risk Management matters that are brought to attention are subject to direct remedial action and/or ensure adequate reporting to the relevant Risk Committees and/or line management.
Governance
• Responsible for assessing the effectiveness of the Group’s arrangements to deliver effective governance, oversight and controls in the cluster and highlighting gaps as appropriate.
• Awareness and understanding of the regulatory framework in which the Group operates, and the regulatory requirements and expectations relevant to the role.
• Fulfil supervisory responsibilities in line with supervisory principles.
• Ensure adherence with the highest standards of ethics and compliance with relevant policies, processes, and regulations forms part of the culture.
• Participate in Local Client Committee and other relevant committees where applicable.
• Engage with all audit report findings and ensure feedback is acted upon
Regulatory & Business Conduct
• Display exemplary conduct and live by the Group’s Values and Code of Conduct.
• Take personal responsibility for embedding the highest standards of ethics, including regulatory and business conduct, across Standard Chartered Bank. This includes understanding and ensuring compliance with, in letter and spirit, all applicable laws, regulations, guidelines and the Group Code of Conduct.

• Academic or Professional Education/Qualifications – relevant degree

• Bank training, i.e. mandatory & developmental
• Languages – fluency in business English
• Demonstrable and relevant experience in the Private Banking industry commensurate with this remit and level of responsibility

• Firm in all business guidelines and compliance issues
• Sound knowledge of financial markets and investment products
