Job Summary

As Assistant Manager, Regulatory Reporting at our Mauritius office, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the bank's compliance with regulatory requirements and contributing to robust risk management frameworks. Your core responsibilities include the preparation and management of regulatory returns submitted to the Bank of Mauritius, including capital adequacy and risk-based supervisory reports.

You will be instrumental in managing the bank's regulatory capital requirements, promoting efficient capital utilisation aligned with prudential objectives. Supporting the coordination of the Internal Capital Adequacy Assessment Process (ICAAP), you will assist in identifying, assessing, and managing risks to ensure the bank maintains adequate capital buffers.

Acting as the finance representative in governance forums such as the Data Governance meeting and the Non-Financial Return reporting forum, you will contribute to the strengthening of data integrity and reporting frameworks across the organisation. Additionally, you will lead delivery of the XBRL automation project (Axiom), enhancing the efficiency and accuracy of regulatory submissions through tactical and strategic initiatives.

This role demands meticulous attention to detail, analytical rigour, and the ability to operate effectively within a busy and dynamic banking environment. It offers a unique opportunity to work at the intersection of regulatory compliance, finance, and risk management within a leading international bank.

Skills and Experience

  • Extensive experience within the banking sector, demonstrating a clear understanding of banking operations and regulatory frameworks.
  • Sound knowledge of accounting principles and concepts, ensuring financial reporting compliance and accuracy.
  • Proficient understanding of the Bank of Mauritius reporting guidelines and regulatory requirements to guarantee timely and precise submissions.
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel to manage data analysis and reporting tasks effectively.
  • Competence in other Microsoft Office applications including Word and PowerPoint to support documentation and presentation needs.
  • Strong familiarity with the Internal Capital Adequacy Assessment Process (ICAAP), including the ability to support capital planning and risk management activities.
  • Experience with governance frameworks and data governance principles to maintain high standards of data quality and control.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment with a commitment to accuracy and compliance.

Qualifications

  • A university degree in Accounting or a relevant professional qualification in Accounting and Finance such as CA, ACCA, or CIMA is essential.
  • Minimum of five years' experience working within a regulatory reporting department of a bank, showcasing expertise in regulatory environments and reporting frameworks.
  • In-depth knowledge of Group Accounting practices, statutory requirements, and comprehensive banking experience to ensure compliance and operational effectiveness.
  • Advanced proficiency with computerised Accounting and Banking systems to streamline regulatory reporting processes.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with regulators, internal stakeholders, and cross-functional teams.
  • Proven ability to thrive in demanding and high-pressure environments while maintaining attention to detail and analytical excellence.
  • Broad understanding of good banking practices and regulatory expectations to contribute to best-in-class reporting standards.
  • An analytical mindset with a strong emphasis on accuracy and data integrity.
  • High level of computer literacy including advanced use of regulatory reporting tools and platforms.
  • Fluency in English as the primary business language for effective communication within the global bank framework.
