Job Description: 

Job Summary

  • Lead the end-to-end operating model of SME Banking, covering governance, business control, operations, and customer service
  • Ensure SME operates in line with regulatory requirements and Group standards, while delivering efficient and client-centric outcomes
  • Partner with the Head of SME Banking to drive consistent execution, operational performance, and sustainable business growth

Key Responsibilities

Strategy

  • Support definition and execution of the SME operating model, aligned to business strategy
  • Translate strategic priorities into clear execution plans and governance structures
  • Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, scalability, and cost-to-serve

 

 

Business

  • Oversee SME operations and servicing, including onboarding, payments, account servicing, trade operations, business-managed middle and back-office activities
  • Ensure delivery of service quality, turnaround time, and client experience standards
  • Provide insights on operational performance, risks, and improvement actions
  • Ensure operations support business growth, client outcomes, and cost efficiency

Processes

  • Establish and maintain effective end-to-end processes across SME Banking
  • Drive simplification and standardisation to improve efficiency and control
  • Ensure clear ownership, accountability, and documentation of key processes

 

 

People & Talent 

  • Lead SME governance and service teams, including business-managed middle and back-office activities  
  • Build a culture of accountability, control, and service excellence
  • Develop team capabilities in process management, risk awareness, and service delivery

Risk Management

  • Maintain a sound first-line control environment across SME operations
  • Ensure timely identification, escalation, and resolution of operational and control issues
  • Oversee audit findings and remediation actions to closure

 

 

Governance 

  • Maintain effective governance structure, reporting and forums
  • Ensure compliance with Group policies and regulatory requirements
  • Support clear decision-making and escalation mechanisms

Regulatory & Business Conduct 

  • Display exemplary conduct and live by the Group’s Values and Code of Conduct.
  • Take personal responsibility for embedding the highest standards of ethics, including regulatory and business conduct, across Standard Chartered Bank. This includes understanding and ensuring compliance with, in letter and spirit, all applicable laws, regulations, guidelines and the Group Code of Conduct.
  • Effectively and collaboratively identify, escalate, mitigate and resolve risk, conduct and compliance matters.

Other Responsibilities

Promote the Group’s brand, purpose and values in Hong Kong SME Banking, and carry out other responsibilities assigned under Group, Country, Business or Functional policies and procedures, including any additional responsibilities arising from multi-functional or dual-hat roles where applicable.

Skills and Experience

  • English
  • Microsoft Office ( Excel, Word, Powerpoint)
  • Knowledge in Banking Industry 
  • With experience working with a variety of risk and compliance related areas
  • Good data analytical skills is preferred. Design and maintain reports for control, tracking for analysis
  • Experience in coordinate and review various compliance / procedural guideline to identify potential areas of concerns / gaps
  • With agile mindset, flexible in task assignments and various projects including but not limited to streamlining processes / flow for better efficiency

Qualifications

  • Degree holder, preferably solid experience in Retail Banking, Risk Management and internal/external Audit
  • Solid knowledge of Operational Risk Management, Control & Governance, Risk & Control Self-Assessment and Incident Management
  • Strong analytical skills, risk sense and common sense
  • Self-motivated with good judgement and able to work well under pressure
  • Good stakeholder management by establishing good working relationships with stakeholders at all levels and to work well in a team
  • Good communication, interpersonal skills and command of written English and Chinese
