Job Description: 

Job Summary

This is a critical role within the WRB risk management team under which the job holder will support and manage the execution of the risk management strategy for mortgage loans, for both Singapore, as well as the global mortgage portfolio. The role holder will directly manage the country CRM function for mortgages for Singapore and also support Group CRM priorities. Key responsibilities will include:

•    Ensure full compliance to the Bank’s credit and local regulatory requirements through effective control mechanism across all credit cycle functions.
•    Manage an acceptable level of credit loss and maximize economic profits for the Business through profitable growths.
•    Support healthy asset growth and achieve desirable market share and to support quality fulfilment of promises to the customers.

Key Responsibilities

Strategy
•    Define and execute the secured lending credit risk strategy for Group and Singapore, ensuring alignment with the Group risk management framework and approved risk appetite.
•    Anticipate and respond to economic, regulatory and market developments through proactive portfolio management and risk mitigation actions.
•    Provide insight, analysis and independent challenge to support risk appetite, credit policy and governance decisions.
•    Drive sustainable portfolio growth and shareholder value through an appropriate balance of risk and return, supported by continuous enhancement of credit processes.
•    Business
•    Communicate and embed secured lending risk strategy and priorities across Group, country and first-line stakeholders.
•    Partner with business and product teams on target market strategies, product propositions and new initiatives to support sustainable and profitable growth.
•    Deliver portfolio analysis, forecasting and risk-based challenge to optimise business performance within risk appetite.
•    Ensure the capabilities, infrastructure and expertise required to support evolving secured lending business needs.

 

Risk Management
•    Own and maintain secured lending risk appetite, standards and credit policies across Group and Singapore.
•    Manage portfolio risk, growth, profitability and asset quality through ongoing monitoring, segmentation and targeted portfolio actions.
•    Oversee portfolio performance using analytics, stress testing, early-warning indicators and risk assessment frameworks.
•    Translate risk appetite and risk-return objectives into effective underwriting policies, portfolio strategies and credit decisions.
•    Provide subject matter expertise throughout model development, implementation and monitoring to ensure continued relevance and effectiveness.
•    Challenge collections strategies, impairment forecasts and remediation actions to address emerging delinquency trends.
•    Provide independent oversight and challenge to business and control functions, leading responses to material risk events, policy breaches and emerging issues.
•    Report portfolio performance, risk exposures, macroeconomic developments and strategic opportunities to senior management and governance forums.

Governance
•    Review and approve credit proposals, policy dispensations and product programmes, ensuring risks are appropriately identified, assessed and controlled.
•    Maintain Group and Singapore mortgage Credit Approval Documents (CADs) and provide guidance on country-specific addenda.
•    Ensure robust governance, controls and assurance processes for policy development, approval and implementation.
•    Support effective decision-making through active participation in committees, management forums and escalation processes.
•    Oversee the identification, reporting and remediation of operational risk issues, control weaknesses, audit findings and compliance breaches.

Processes
•    Ensure consistent implementation, monitoring and enforcement of secured lending policies and controls across Group and country teams.
•    Review acquisition strategies, product programmes and marketing initiatives in response to changing risk and competitive dynamics.
•    Leverage scorecards, analytics and risk tools to enhance credit decision-making, operational efficiency and control effectiveness.
•    Monitor approval performance, portfolio quality and programme effectiveness, ensuring timely reviews and renewals.

•    Ensure the highest standards of regulatory compliance, ethics and business conduct across all activities.

Our Ideal Candidate

Key Experiences    
•    15+ years of direct experience of managing credit policy for retail lending products, including credit cards, personal loans and mortgage loans.
•    Experience in both Singapore and Group-level roles is preferred.
•    Have had exposure to other areas in Risk, including collections and underwriting.
