JOB SUMMARY

RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsible for macro execution and client level non-flow strategy across a range of Australian and NZ domiciled clients. Active engagement with execution desks and PM level for flow products as well as partnership with product specialists from the securities lending and commodities sales teams. Strong knowledge and experience in rates + money market sales preferred with the ability to integrate other asset classes into execution and coverage. Idea generation will be key as will the ability to articulate this to clients and generate discussion and trades. There will be a focus on the structured product / balance sheet initiatives side where we have strong overlap between SCB and client alike.

• The role will involve liaising with clients and executing trades and orders in line with SCB’s policy and procedures consistent with all FM Sales staff globally including Order Handling, Record Keeping and Best Execution.
• Accountable for ensuring appropriate frameworks and operational infrastructures are in place to enable the business processes to be efficient, appropriate and compliant with internal policies, procedures, codes and applicable external laws and regulations.
• Monitor the utilisation of each client’s trading limits with SCB, obtain specific approval for any excesses likely to arise as a result of a particular transaction.
• Exercise due care and diligence on matters related to execution, completion and supervisory functions related to bank processes and policies.
• Weekly meeting with Operations on operational processes and issues
• Taking responsibility for the global financial markets relationship for key clients where appropriate. This will require liaison with relationship Managers and SCB product specialises in other regions in which clients are active, to help build the global franchise with dedicated coverage accounts.
• Drive/follow Financial Market themes and key indicatives and close alignment with the risk books
Risk Management
• Comply with all risk management guidelines
• Ensure desk compliance with pre-deal processes and appropriateness and suitability guidelines.
• Takes responsibility for identifying, assessing, monitoring, controlling and mitigating risks to the Group. Also, an awareness and understanding of the main risks facing the Group and the role the individual and the team play in managing them.
• Ensures all regulatory and compliance initiatives surrounding the product are identified, socialised and closed out in a timely and efficient fashion.
Governance
• Assesses the effectiveness of the Group’s arrangements to deliver effective governance, oversight and controls in the business and, if necessary, recommend changes in these areas
• Maintains awareness and understanding of the regulatory framework in which the Group operates, and the regulatory requirements and expectations relevant to the role.
• Is aware of business strategy and governance parameters and works within them or seeks formal dispensation prior to entering client discussions in exceptional cases.
• Ensures the sales process, commercials, and necessary governance are in place to govern the roll-out of the product.

Key Stakeholders
CEO Australia; GB Coverage Bankers, DCM origination, Australia; Counterparts in FM product trading and structuring; TRM; Relevant stakeholders from Treasury Markets Australia. Product partners in MM, repo and securities lending along with commodities sales. In addition to line manager relationships, other key stakeholders include Heads of BBD and Investor Sales, Head of FM Australia. External stakeholders are the BBD clients + any other clients deemed core for coverage with this role.

Our Ideal Candidate
• 3+ years experience in a sales environment, ideally in a bank
• Experience in flow products – this could be FX, Rates, Commodities
• Additional experience in balance sheet / financing trades is also preferred – securities lending, repo, balance sheet optimisation, ALM desks etc
• Strong execution capabilities with a desire to grow and prospect new business and clients
