Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced and driven Associate Director to lead the origination and relationship management of our Greater China Financial Institutions (FI) client portfolio in Continental Europe. This role is central to delivering the bank’s global strategy for FI, with a focus on the China Corridor. You will be responsible for client strategy, revenue growth, risk management, and promoting cross-border business in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.

 

This is a high-impact opportunity for a results-oriented individual with strong market insight, risk awareness, and a passion for building strategic client relationships.

Key Responsibilities

Client Relationship & Strategy

  • Lead the development and execution of the client strategy for the Greater China FI portfolio in Continental Europe.
  • Originate and deepen client relationships through the delivery of tailored banking solutions.
  • Collaborate with Global Account Managers (GAMs) and product teams to drive cross-sell and client profitability.
  • Act as a local champion for inbound China business and enhance China access strategy in local markets.

Financial Performance & Sales Execution

  • Own and deliver against revenue, RoRWA, and profitability targets for the assigned client portfolio.
  • Manage sales disciplines: account planning, pipeline development, and performance tracking.
  • Provide structured and innovative product solutions aligned with clients’ banking needs.

Risk & Compliance

  • Act as the first line of defense by proactively managing credit, financial crime, and regulatory risks.
  • Conduct ongoing due diligence and periodic client reviews in line with the bank’s underwriting standards.
  • Maintain strong working relationships with Credit, Compliance, Legal, and Risk teams.

Internal & External Stakeholder Engagement

  • Represent the Bank in client interactions, industry events, and with regulatory authorities as required.
  • Collaborate with China Opening & RMB Internationalization Team, regional leadership, and global business stakeholders.
  • Support the delivery of SCB’s FI strategic priorities.

Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Banking, Finance, Economics, or related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in financial institutions, banking, or correspondent banking.
  • Proven track record in client relationship management and FI coverage.
  • Strong understanding of risk management frameworks, especially in compliance and credit.
  • Fluency in Mandarin and English (written and spoken) is essential.
  • Deep knowledge of Greater China markets and cross-border banking needs.
