Job Summary
The Financial Institution (“FI”) Client Risk Advisor plays a crucial role in supporting Standard Chartered Correspondent Banking (“CBR”) compliance by ensuring adherence to both Group and Local Financial Crime Risk Programs, which are designed to mitigate risks effectively.
As the first line of defence in the bank’s comprehensive risk management framework, the Director holds the important responsibility of supporting the risk assessment process and acceptance of the segment, as well as conducting ongoing, detailed monitoring of the clients’ activities to ensure continual compliance and risk mitigation.
Additionally, the role involves actively contributing to various FI Client Risk Advisor Global Initiatives aimed at enhancing risk management practices and compliance standards across all regions.
Key Responsibilities
- Work closely with the European Relationship Managers on client risk ownership as part of the first line of defence
- Actively participate in client engagement virtually or in-person to assess FCR related controls & processes
- Lead on internal governance committees representing the FI/Banks business interests
- Review new business proposals and coordinate engagement with internal stakeholders
- Propose solutions to manage risks identified in cooperation with both 1LoD & 2LoD
- Review monthly KRIs & transactional activity to identify key risk trends & themes for clients
- Support on related FI Financial Crime Governance projects with various stakeholders
- Promote cross-bank teamwork to implement the FI client strategy with effective controls
- Represent SCB professionally at regional and international levels.
- Stay updated on client industry developments
Key stakeholders
• Work with local/Group CFCC, FI Advisory, Sales and Relationship managers colleagues ensuring risk and compliance matters are addressed in an appropriate and timely manner.
Qualifications
• 7+ years of work experience with Correspondent Banking, Fintech, Payments, Crypto/Digital Assets or related financial services products.
• Strong knowledge of EU/Germany regulatory environment with some working knowledge of SCB footprint markets.
• Experience with financial crime compliance / AML frameworks for FI clients is required.
• Good understanding of specialized due diligence, sanctions, ICA/ACAMS
• Core product knowledge across the Bank’s offering
• Structured and process driven, with experience in a multi-cultural team, across borders and time zones.
• Excellent analytics and reporting skills and manage communications.
• Excellent communication/writing skills with ability to get points across to all levels internally & externally.
• Ability to work towards tight deadlines and manage expectations.
• Languages: English and German
Bachelor’s degree required with advance education preferred.
