Job Summary

We are currently looking for a passionate and highly motivated person to join our global team as Director, Trade Asset Sales & Syndications. This role could be based in Germany and France. As a key member of Trade Asset Sales & Syndications (TASS) team, under Trade Distribution function, Syndicate and Portfolio Management, reporting to Transaction Banking business in Europe, this role specifically focuses on distribution and syndication of transactions booked in Europe (ex UK) Region and will manage bank and alternative FI investors located in the Europe (ex UK) region.

This role is very strategic in nature and a key enabler of bank’s strategic pillars around originate to distribute and improving the returns. This is a critical business enabling role for both Corporate and FI businesses, since you will interact with business and Credit stakeholders (Heads of businesses and their teams) on a regular day-to-day basis to support Trade Finance business for Europe directly; and the global trade finance business indirectly as you will help find investors based in Europe, and solutions for deals originating out of other regions as well.

Key Responsibilities

  • Partnering the origination teams for their distribution needs, acting as the face of distribution for FI & Corporate risk
  • Managing FI investor relationships in the regions for risk participation of FI & Corporate risk
  • Manage Trade finance Syndication deals for the region.
  • The team engages in the distribution of Trade Assets & Contingents to optimize the deal structure, relieve credit or country exposure, enhance RoRWA and to bring in liquidity through Funded Risk Participation
  •  Responsible for meeting all distribution needs of the regions in scope, across all distribution channels, by managing bank and non-bank investors directly and by coordinating with other investor managers from insurance and programs teams.
  • Interact regularly with Senior stakeholders across functions and help enable origination of new deals on back of distribution, crafting the distribution strategy for the region and effectively delivering the same
  • Directly responsible for Trade Asset Distribution, and the management of trade assets for global distribution which have been originated from the regions in scope
  • Develop and maintain FI investor relationships for the region for distribution and Syndication of trade assets. Work proactively and closely with TB sales and CIB to understand their pipeline needs and communicate TB’s distribution capabilities and market appetite and pricing
  • To work closely with other units within Trade Distribution World and to develop constructive alternative risk distribution conduits
  • Develop deeper investor base for the regions in scope
  • Comply with the banks internal policies and local regulatory requirements as well as the Anti-Money Laundering policies/measures and others
  • Responsible for crafting a region-specific distribution strategy, based on broader trade strategy for the region to meet revenue & returns objectives, while supporting client needs
  • The role is about leading and strategizing the activities within the region to roll-out the global agenda, as this is the single distribution team role driving and delivering with on-the-ground presence. Some key activities include regular engagement with Originators, identifying proactively opportunities for originate to distribute. This involves attending the pipeline meetings across segments, visiting clients, bringing out ideas from market and helping the market evolve to develop investors for trade finance assets
  • Responsible for meeting all distribution needs of the regions in scope, across all distribution channels, by managing bank investors directly and by coordinating with other investor managers from insurance and programs teams
  • Managing and growing investor relationships in the regions in scope. Understanding the risk appetite for various investors in the region and providing feedback to origination team to create further opportunities to originate on the back of distribution 
  • Actively build and nurture relationships with Alternate investors in the region and showcase deals from across the globe to these investors
  • Structuring distribution solutions for FI and Corporate trade structures, continuously creating capacities for business / improving returns, generating liquidity in the markets 
  • Support Client strategy by working with large investors in the region to participate in syndicated deals for existing / prospect clients
  • Underwrite deals in the region to help originate business for deals where we do not have available capacity and need to meet client needs 
  • Work closely with loan syndications teams on structures to unlock incremental origination and support client needs.

Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, Finance, Technology, or a related field  
  • Extensive experience in a similar role within the financial services industry
  • Experience in Trade Finance, Syndications, Distribution
  • Knowledge of Customer Behaviour and Preferences, including detailed analysis and understanding of purchasing patterns and motivations
  • Market Risk assessment and management strategies to mitigate potential challenges
  • Proficiency in prospecting techniques to identify and engage potential clients effectively
  • Experience in drafting sales proposals and delivering presentations to clearly communicate value propositions and address client needs
  • Skilled in selling strategies and cross-selling approaches focused on building relationships, maximize customer value and expand product adoption
  • Exceptional stakeholder management and communication skills
  • Fluency in English, other European languages are a plus.
