Job Description: 

We are seeking an experienced and proactive Compliance Adviser to join our CFCR Advisory team in Germany. This is a high-impact role at the intersection of regulatory advisory, product governance, and risk oversight within Corporate & Investment Banking.

You will act as a trusted compliance partner to the business, working closely with operational risk functions, product development teams, and senior stakeholders across Germany, France, and Sweden. The role requires deep expertise in the European regulatory landscape—particularly German regulatory requirements—and the ability to translate complex regulation into practical, business-aligned solutions.

This position offers significant exposure to senior management, cross-border activities, regulatory engagement, and new product development initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance of SCB’s business activities in AG (Germany/ France), the EEA, and other relevant countries with all laws, regulations, policies, and standards, particularly for the CIB Business.
  • Oversee SCB AG’s Exchange Membership, ensuring compliance with Exchange rulebooks as well as focusing on Market Infrastructure regulations, especially MiFIR and Automated Trading.
  • Oversight on SCB AG’s Commodities BusinessRepresent CFCR in local governance forums, including Risk Meetings, Residual Risk Rating Meetings, and New Product Approval Committees.
  • Advise SCB AG offices and support non-presence country activities.
  • Identify, analyse, and interpret new regulatory initiatives affecting CIB business.
  • Ensure all new and existing products and services comply with applicable laws, regulations, and internal policies.
  • Review, draft, implement, and roll out policies, standards, and procedures.
  • Proactively ensure that relevant policies, manuals, and procedures remain up to date.
  • Maintain and update Obligations Registers and management information tools.
  • Conduct compliance testing, quality assurance reviews, and monitoring activities.
  • Support and maintain the local CFCR SharePoint, documentation framework, and Business Continuity Planning (BCP).
  • Review and update regulatory disclosures (including website content) and client communications to ensure compliance.
  • Prepare and document relevant Management Information (MI) and escalation materials.
  • Contribute to and prepare compliance presentations and reporting materials.

 

Skills & Experience

Qualifications

  • University degree (Law degree advantageous but not mandatory).
  • Legal or regulatory supervision background is beneficial.
  • Alternatively, extensive relevant compliance experience within investment services.

Technical Expertise

  • Strong knowledge of the European regulatory framework, particularly German regulation under the WpHG and related requirements.
  • In-depth familiarity with regulations such as:
  • Markets in Financial Instruments Directive II (MiFID II)
  • Market Abuse Regulation (MAR)
  • MaComp
  • Markets in Crypto-Assets Regulation (MiCAR)
  • Strong understanding of German supervisory expectations, including those of Federal Financial Supervisory Authority (BaFin).

  • Ability to operate effectively in an international and matrix environment.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to assess regulatory change and business impact.
  • Excellent drafting skills with clear, concise, and impactful communication.
  • Ability to communicate confidently with senior management and external regulators.
  • Highly detail-oriented with strong organisational and prioritisation skills.
  • Capable of managing multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.

Languages

  • Fluency in both German and English is essential.
  • Additional languages are considered an asset.
