Job Description: 

Job Summary

•    The Product Control team, supporting Corporate and Investment Banking (CIB) business, ensures the integrity and accuracy of financial reporting and control. This team is crucial in managing and overseeing trading activities, providing insights and analysis to support the business. Acting as a bridge between the front office, market risk, technical accounting, and finance, the team ensures accurate recording, reporting, and analysis of financial data.
•    Key responsibilities include designing and operating a robust control environment for Finance processes to maintain the integrity, valuation, and accuracy of the Bank’s records. The team drives the governance agenda and challenges the business constructively to support sustainable growth.
•    The Product Control team interacts with various stakeholders such as the front office, market risk, technical accounting, finance, internal audit, compliance, operational risk, regulators, and external auditors. Essential skills for Product Controllers include in-depth knowledge of financial products, markets, and product accounting; proficiency in financial reporting and technical accounting; a strong understanding of financial controls and governance; and the ability to work collaboratively across departments. 
•    We are seeking a dynamic and technically skilled professional to join our Markets Product Control team as the Global Head of Markets Product Control, reporting into the Global Head of Product control and Valuation Control. This role will play a pivotal part in expanding the Bank’s Product and accounting capabilities, developing compliant and commercially effective strategies, and supporting various technology initiatives. The successful candidate will act as lead running the Markets Product Control, working closely with Technical Accounting, Markets business, IRRBB, Liquidity, Capital, and other key stakeholders to deliver best-in-class accounting solutions across the Group.

Key Responsibilities

Strategy
•    Responsible for the effective application of accounting and financial control policies and procedures for CIB Markets business. 
•    Help business to ensure that specific financial risks inherent in the processes involving Markets products are identified, monitored, controlled, and mitigated in a timely manner by developing and maintaining a controllership function which meets the requirements of best practices in relation to Markets business.
•    Spearhead the end-to-end design and implementation of Markets PC controllership.
•    Manage revenue recognition processes, ensuring alignment with IFRS9, IFRS15 and other regulatory requirements.
•    Identify opportunities for process enhancements and automation to improve efficiency and accuracy.
•    Participate in system upgrades and implementation of projects impacting Finance.

Business Partnering
•    Partner with CIB and Markets CFOs to drive controllership.
•    Supporting the introduction of new products within respective businesses and related pre and post execution governance. 
•    Providing insight with respect to structural and/or system changes and future business expansion/changes and their impact on business performance.

Regulatory & Business Conduct
•    Leading Markets PC engagement with Global and Regional Regulators and Statutory and Internal Auditors supporting all Markets business related queries, questionnaires, and audits.
•    Ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards, regulatory requirements, and internal policies.
•    Prepare and review regulatory reports and disclosures.
•    Liaise with auditors and regulators to provide necessary information and support
•    Collaborate with front office, risk management, finance, and other key stakeholders.
•    Provide financial insights and support decision-making processes.
•    Communicate effectively with senior management on financial performance and control matters.

Process Controls
•    Responsible for designing, building and maintaining a robust control environment in respect of daily P&L reporting, P&L attribution and balance sheet substantiation.
•    Ensure accurate and timely reporting of daily P&L (Profit and Loss) for trading desks. 
•    Perform detailed analysis and reconciliation of P&L and balance sheet items.
•    Provide insights into financial performance, variance analysis, and trends.
•    Partner with Entity and Group controllers / business partners.
•    Supporting the launch of new products and related pre and post execution governance.

People and Culture
•    Ensure the provision of ongoing training and development of people and ensure that holders of all critical functions are suitably skilled and qualified for their roles ensuring that they have effective supervision in place to mitigate any risks.
•    Employ, engage and retain high quality people, with succession planning for critical roles.
•    Responsibility to review team structure/capacity plans.
•    Set and monitor job descriptions and objectives for direct reports and provide feedback and rewards in line with their performance against those responsibilities and objectives
•    Contribute to fostering a collaborative and inclusive culture within the Bank which promotes collective responsibility, diversity and is free from biases 
•    Nurturing fungible talent, transferable intelligence.

Controls and Risk Management
•    Leading PC engagement with Global and Regional Regulators, Statutory and Internal Auditors supporting all queries, questionnaires, and audits.
•    Monitor and report on key risk metrics, ensuring adherence to risk limits.
•    Identify and escalate any potential risks or issues to senior management.
•    Support the implementation of risk control frameworks and processes

•    transparency, and accountability within the organization.
•    Ensuring adherence to accounting and financial reporting standards when executing processes day-to-day processes (ACG compliant).
•    Develop and maintain documentation of processes and controls

Qualifications

•    Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field; a master’s degree or professional certification (e.g., CPA, ACCA, CA, CFA) is strongly preferred.
•    15+ years of experience in finance or accounting functions, with a strong preference for candidates with Markets products (FX, FXO, Rates, XVA, Commodities and Credit) expertise.
•    Deep technical knowledge of Product Control frameworks (e.g., IFRS9, IAS 39) and practical experience in financial instrument valuation.
•    Demonstrated success in designing and executing controllership strategies across multiple risk types.
•    Strong analytical mindset and problem-solving capabilities, with the ability to apply judgment in data-driven decisions.
•    Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively influence and collaborate across business, finance, and technical teams.
•    Strong Control mindset
