Job Summary
• Proactively support and challenge Private banking businesses and supporting functions to exhibit appropriate conduct, comply with regulatory and compliance requirements and strive to achieve fair outcome for the Bank’s clients.
• Build and maintain an effective and constructive relationship with all key business and functional stakeholders that is based on trust, capability and integrity, providing timely, responsive and quality regulatory compliance advice and guidance to enable the business and functions to meet/ achieve their strategic tactical objectives.
• Supports Executive Director, WRB CFCR, Affluent and Wealth in relationships with stakeholders
• Daily managing the requests from the business and team
Strategy
• Help SCB meet its commitment of being "Here for Good" by building a sustainable framework that places conduct, financial crime and compliance (“CFCR”) best practice standards, at the forefront of the Bank’s agenda.
• As an independent second line risk control function, to execute the relevant aspects of the CFCR PRTFs through robust independent risk control and the provision of specialist advice and constructive challenge in a manner proportionate to the nature, scale and complexity of WRB businesses.
• Proactively support and challenge WRB businesses and supporting functions to exhibit appropriate conduct, comply with regulatory and compliance requirements and strive to achieve fair outcome for the Bank’s clients.
• For maintaining independence, delivering timely responses, and timely escalation of risks and issues where the management tolerance of the firm is exceeded.
• For maintaining constructive and effective stakeholder relationships with the relevant businesses and supporting functions, and to assist TBC to interface with, and support all key stakeholders.
• Drive high standards of regulatory compliance and deliver key priorities and initiatives, aligned to the relevant WRB performance scorecards.
Skills and Experience
Business
• Build and maintain an effective and constructive relationship with all key business and functional stakeholders that is based on trust, capability and integrity, providing timely, responsive and quality regulatory compliance advice and guidance to enable the business and functions to meet/ achieve their strategic tactical objectives.
• Provide robust challenge to senior management and all relevant business stakeholders where activities are outside risk tolerance/ appetite, escalating as necessary, until appropriate oversight and ownership is achieved including actions and plans to address any remedial action needed to come back within risk tolerance/ appetite.
• Work closely with the business to provide timely regulatory compliance advice to ensure compliance with all relevant laws and regulations and support the transition to pro-active and pre-emptive compliance and conduct risk mitigation.
• Regular and diarised catch ups with all key business stakeholders.
Processes
• Establish and maintain effective processes (including training, advice and support) to ensure that policies, procedures and standards to address compliance risks are effectively implemented and adhered to across WRB.
• Provide support and challenge to the Bank’s senior management to ensure that they establish and monitor appropriate processes for compliance with compliance policies and standards (including meeting regulatory obligations and
• Provide CDD related training to WRB Business and relevant stakeholders
People & Talent
• Lead through example and build the appropriate culture and values. Set appropriate tone and expectations from their team and work in collaboration with risk and control partners.
Risk Management
• In collaboration with relevant senior managers, support a programme for compliance monitoring, surveillance and assurance for WRB business.
• Ensure effective management of compliance matters, and in collaboration with the rest of the Compliance team, effectively manage regulatory issues that have a significant impact on the Bank.
• Collaborate with the other Compliance teams to anticipate horizon risks that may have a significant impact on the Bank and develop effective strategies to mitigate such horizon risks including global standards for conduct of business.
• Provide reports to relevant Group and Business risk and control committees and management group on key compliance risks and issues.
• Lead and drive regulatory projects discussion and implementation in WRB by working with key stakeholders across business segments. Provide regulatory guidance and interpretation of the requirements.
• Maintain adequate management MI / trackers across all aspects of their coverage and responsibility to ensure all issues and matters are tracked, followed, regularly assessed and reported on.
• Assist in developing and maintaining effective policies/standards/DOIs (including training, advice and support) to address CFCR risks across WRB, aligning with relevant regulatory requirements.
Qualifications
- Compliance professional of at least 8 years standing with specific focus on CFCR CDD/ AML Advisory for CPBB business.
- Well-verse in the understanding of regulations impacting WRB, and other like guidance / circulars.
- Good judgment enabling the provision of sound advice in difficult areas of regulation and practice and the proactive management of compliance and regulatory risk.
- Must possess excellent interpersonal skills and multi-cultural awareness and sensitivity.
- Sound judgement on business practices, regulatory relationship management and reputational risk.
- Be able to operate independently and demonstrate robustness in ethics and resilience.
- Provide guidance and support to junior team members on CDD Advisory matters.
- A team player and has the right aptitude to work with different stakeholders and committed to meet deadlines.
