The Operational, Technology and Cyber Risk (OTCR) organisation is instrumental in protecting and ensuring the resilience of Standard Chartered Bank’s operations, data, and IT systems by managing operational, technology and cyber risk across the enterprise. Reporting into the Group Chief Risk Officer (CRO), the Group OTCR team serves as the second line of defence for assuring that controls are implemented effectively, in accordance with the OTCR Framework, and for instilling a risk culture within the Bank. 

Key Responsibilities

The Director, OTCR, Strategic & Emerging Risks for| AI & ML, will play a crucial role in the second line of defence, responsible for overseeing and challenging the management of risks associated with the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) within Cyber Security and Technology. This role will focus on ensuring the effective identification, assessment, mitigation, and monitoring of AI-related risks, contributing to the development and implementation of a robust AI risk management framework. The ideal candidate possesses a strong understanding of AI/ML technologies, cyber security principles, and risk management best practices.

Strategy
•    AI Though Leadership: Provide though leadership on the emerging trends and best practices across Cyber and Technology risk.  Input into strategic and emerging risk identification and management capabilities to enable the bank to take a forward looking and proactive stance in the management of AI related risks. 

Business
•    AI Though Leadership: Provide though leadership on the emerging trends and best practices across Cyber and Technology risk.  Input into strategic and emerging risk identification and management capabilities to enable the bank to take a forward looking and proactive stance in the management of AI related risks. 
•    AI Risk Framework Development & Implementation: Contribute to the development, implementation, and maintenance of a comprehensive AI risk management framework, aligned with industry best practices and regulatory requirements.

•    Risk Identification & Assessment: Proactively identify and assess emerging AI-related risks across Cyber Security and Technology, considering both current and future AI applications. This includes evaluating risks related to Technology, operational risk and security vulnerabilities and design.
•    Risk Mitigation & Control Evaluation: Evaluate the design and effectiveness of controls implemented by the first line of defence to mitigate identified AI risks. Challenge and provide recommendations for improvement where necessary.
•    Monitoring & Reporting: Establish and execute ongoing monitoring activities to track the effectiveness of AI risk management controls. Prepare and present regular reports on AI risk posture to senior management and relevant committees.
•    Collaboration & Communication: Collaborate closely with stakeholders across Cyber Security, Technology, Data and other relevant departments to ensure a consistent and coordinated approach to AI risk management.
•    Knowledge & Expertise: Stay abreast of the latest developments in AI/ML technologies, cyber security threats, and regulatory landscape related to AI. Share knowledge and best practices with the broader organization.
•    Policy & Guidance: Contribute to the development and maintenance of policies, standards, and guidelines related to the responsible use of AI within the organization.

•    Challenge & Oversight: Provide independent challenge and oversight of the first line of defence’s management of AI risks.

•    Support the training, develop and upskilling of the wider team on Security and AI.  

Risk Management
•    Support the effective identification, assessment and management of risk.  

Governance 
Ensure good governance and management of identified risk and issues.
