Job Summary
The role is a technical team lead for the File Storage Domain and be a member of the Global Storage & Backup management team at Standard Chartered Bank. It is a senior role that requires experience with engineering, deploying and supporting File Storage solutions but has led a team in the past, preferably across geographic locations. Open to experiences in industries outside of banking.
Key Responsibilities
Strategy
• Awareness and understanding of the Group’s business strategy and model appropriate to the role.
• Identify & recommend new products or technology that can add value to the organization and align to the storage strategic goals
• Work with Security Technology Services to ensure Storage architecture design/solutions can meet bank security standards.
• Develop RFPs/RFIs, oversee product evaluations, coordinate product selections, ensuring pricing, terms and conditions meet bank IT standards
Business
• Awareness and understanding of the wider business, economic and market environment in which the group operates.
• As a critical technology service for the bank, ensure Storage architecture design have high availability to remains stable and performing optimally
• Gain a deep understanding of business objectives and priorities.
Processes
• Ensure that Storage Engineering complies with the Technology Services processes within the Architecture Framework. These include Security Architecture & Capability Authority (SACA), Technology Services Technology Council (TSTC) and Infrastructure Architecture Standards.
• Ensure the team always follows operational best practices. Ensure the highest levels of ownership, accountability and service are maintained within the team.
• Review, uphold and enforce all Bank technical, security, quality, and engineering standards on supported products.
• Ensure compliance with Bank ITSM processes such as Incident, Change and Problem Management
• Manage Storage product lifecycle (support dates, investment status), features, bugs, CVE’s and security standards.
Risk Management
• Proactively identify risks and issues or react to them in a timely manner to minimise any potential impact. Create and implement remediate plans to resolve any non-compliance.
• Support auditory, regulatory and risk and compliance initiatives that contain deliverables related to the Storage Engineering.
Governance
• Take personal responsibility for understanding the risk and compliance requirements of the role.
• Understand and comply with, in letter and spirit, all applicable laws and regulations, including those governing anti-money laundering, terrorist financing and sanctions; the Group’s policies and procedures; and the Group Code of Conduct.
• Effectively and collaboratively identify, escalate, mitigate and resolve risk and compliance matters.

Other Responsibilities

• Serve as the File Storage lead, providing strong guidance to the team and direction in all aspects of NAS design and support, asserting one’s technical authority to reach successful outcomes.
• In-depth technical knowledge of File Storage products such as NetApp product suite and technologies, and Dell Isilon
• Ensure the global NAS estate is available, performant, stable and resilient, and delivers to expected service levels.
• Oversee routines and failures but periodically participate in out of hours support to fulfil production and project needs as required.
• Being accountable for initiatives and projects, and comfortable playing as both the technical and people lead
• Leading initiatives that will harness automation technologies wherever possible to simplify and increase efficiencies.
• Work closely with peers in the Storage and Backup Team to engineer solutions, develop designs, new products, standards and roadmaps.
• Perform ad-hoc capacity and performance sizing exercises, demonstrating sound judgement, and giving coherent and presentable recommendations with clearly defined outcomes.
• Deploy, build, test and integrate new assets into production, complying with the Bank’s procedural, technical and security standards.
• Leading the team on several activities such as data migrations, demonstrating a sound awareness of the migration flow, prerequisites and dependencies, testing, success criteria and risk mitigation. Deliver successful migrations with zero incidents.
• Exercise advanced troubleshooting skills when responding to incidents, including major incidents and escalations; act as the incident situation-lead to lead collaborative efforts to successful resolution.
• Participate in the on-call rota for mgmt escalations and major incidents.
Qualifications
• Education - Bachelor of engineering
• Languages - English
Skills and Experience
• In this role you will need knowledge of NetApp ONTAP 9, Hardware and Snap mirror data protection and Dell Isilon
• Skill with S3 Object Storage solutions and integration
• Technical knowledge of SAN Storage (Hitachi/Pure/Dell)
• Technical knowledge of Backup (Cohesity/Networker/NetBackup/Arcserve)
• Architecture, design, implementation and support of Storage Solutions
• Storage Security and Standards
• Software skills in Python with experience in Scripting – BASH, KSH, PowerShell
• Understand and be proficient with Automation using REST API or CLI integration
