Lead, Development

We are seeking a skilled Senior Frontend Engineer to join our dynamic technology team. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and maintaining cutting-edge web applications with major business impact across our global financial market business.

Key Responsibilities

Development & Implementation
•    Design and develop responsive, high-performance web applications using modern front-end technologies
•    Implement user interfaces that align with Standard Chartered’ s design standards and accessibility guidelines
•    Collaborate with PO/BA/UX to translate mock-up’s and wireframes into functional web applications
•    Optimize applications for maximum speed, scalability, and cross-browser compatibility

Technical Excellence
•    Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code following established coding standards
•    Participate in code reviews and contribute to continuous improvement of development practices
•    Implement automated testing strategies including unit tests and integration tests
•    Stay current with emerging front-end technologies and industry best practices

Collaboration & Communication
•    Work closely with back-end developers, SRE, QA, BA, product managers, and business stakeholders
•    Participate in agile development processes including sprint planning, daily standups, and retrospectives
•    Contribute to technical documentation and knowledge sharing initiatives
•    Mentor junior developers and share technical expertise across the team

Quality & Compliance
•    Ensure applications meet security standards and regulatory requirements
•    Implement accessibility standards (WCAG) to ensure inclusive user experiences
•    Participate in application monitoring and performance optimization initiatives

Qualifications

Technical Skills
•    5-8 years of experience in front-end development
•    Proficiency in HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript (ES6+)
•    Proficiency in modern JavaScript frameworks (React, Angular, or Vue.js), React Preferred
•    Proficiency in responsive design principles and CSS preprocessors (SASS/LESS), Tailwind preferred
•    Familiarity with version control systems (Git) and CI/CD pipelines
•    Understanding of RESTful APIs and asynchronous programming
•    Experience with build tools and package managers (Vite, Webpack, npm, yarn)
•    Knowledge of testing frameworks (Jest, Cypress, Selenium)

Education

•    Banking or financial services domain knowledge advantageous

Preferred Requirements
•    Experience with micro-frontend architectures
•    Understanding of banking/financial services domain
•    Knowledge of performance optimization techniques
•    Experience with AI coding assistant would be a plus
