Job Summary

  • We are seeking an experienced DevOps Engineer Lead to drive the design, implementation, and optimization of our DevOps practices across banking technology platforms. The role requires both strong technical depth and leadership ability to guide teams in delivering secure, resilient, and scalable solutions that support trading, payments, risk, data, and regulatory platforms.
  • The DevOps Engineer Lead will work closely with development, infrastructure, operations, cybersecurity, and compliance teams to ensure seamless delivery pipelines, high system availability, and strict adherence to industry regulations.

 

Responsibilities

Leadership & Strategy
• Lead a team of DevOps engineers, providing technical direction, mentorship, and performance management.
• Define and execute the DevOps strategy aligned with the bank’s digital transformation, cloud adoption, and automation goals.
• Partner with application, infrastructure, and security teams to ensure DevOps practices meet regulatory, compliance, and resiliency standards (e.g., MAS, HKMA, SOX, GDPR).

Engineering & Delivery
• Design, implement, and maintain CI/CD pipelines across multiple applications (trading, payments, risk, and data platforms).
• Champion infrastructure-as-code (IaC) practices using tools such as Terraform, Ansible, or CloudFormation.
• Drive automation of build, deployment, monitoring, and incident response processes.
• Oversee container orchestration (Kubernetes, OpenShift, Docker) and ensure secure configuration and resilience.
• Collaborate on hybrid-cloud initiatives (AWS, Azure, GCP, private cloud) while meeting data residency and regulatory requirements.

Operational Excellence
• Implement proactive monitoring, observability, and incident response frameworks to minimize downtime in mission-critical banking systems.
• Lead root cause analysis and post-mortem reviews for production issues, driving continuous improvement.
• Enforce best practices for security, access control, secrets management, and compliance monitoring in CI/CD pipelines.
• Establish and track KPIs for deployment frequency, MTTR (Mean Time to Recovery), change failure rate, and system reliability.

Collaboration & Stakeholder Management
• Work with technology and business stakeholders to prioritize DevOps initiatives and resolve bottlenecks.
• Communicate progress, risks, and opportunities to senior management in a clear and actionable manner.
• Promote a culture of collaboration, automation, and continuous improvement across technology teams.

Qualifications

Essential
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
• 8+ years of experience in DevOps, Site Reliability Engineering, or Infrastructure Engineering, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
• Proven track record managing CI/CD pipelines in complex, regulated industries (ideally banking or financial services).
• Hands-on expertise with:
• CI/CD tools (Jenkins, GitLab CI, Azure DevOps, ArgoCD, Tekton)
• Containers and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes, OpenShift)
• Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Ansible, Puppet, or Chef)
• Cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP, or private cloud)
• Monitoring/observability (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, Splunk, Datadog, AppDynamics)
• Strong knowledge of networking, security, encryption, and compliance in financial systems.

Preferred
• Experience in banking or financial services environments with high availability and low-latency systems.
• Knowledge of microservices architecture and service mesh technologies (Istio, Linkerd).
• Strong stakeholder management and communication skills with senior technology and business leaders.
