Job Description: 

Job Summary

  • Overall, the role is located in Guangzhou and playing a contact of finance in Guangzhou supporting Finance Controller of GBS China and Guangzhou, covering accounting and control BAU operations including book close, reporting, risk and control. Besides, the position will also cover initiatives/projects driven for both GBS China and Guangzhou and cross legal entities’ backup plan for both legal entities.

Key Responsibilities

Strategy

  • Support Financial Controller on business needs in process efficiency and standardization
  • Support Financial Controller to identify opportunities for cost efficiency and execution plans as one solution
  • Oversee the Finance function and develop the appropriate financial governance and control framework in accordance with regulatory delivery

 

Business

Internal:

  • Work as country finance to ensure corporate financials’ accuracy.
  • Assist finance controller on the financial analysis and reporting, budget controls of the entities.
  • Work as finance partner to manage CRES and LE level financial tracking and control, and cost target delivery of the entities.
  • Manage the TA cost recovery with TA team lead of the entities.

 

External:

  • Act as finance representative to support regulatory, audit and other local requirements.

Processes

  • Ensure timely and accurate month-end close and support group internal reporting
  • Manage the budget planning and controls of CRES
  • Oversee the LE level financial tracking and analysis
  • GPS TA cost allocation and recovery
  • Coordinate with external auditors and support them throughout the whole audit process
  • Monitor long aging items in FCS on timely manner with other stakeholders and owners
  • Identify opportunities of process improvement area and drive the efficiency and accuracy
  • Any other relevant business given by Finance Controller

 

People & Talent

  • Support Finance Controller to drive daily operation, process, and project-based initiatives
  • Work with country finance team, CRES finance and GFS team to achieve timely reporting and budget control
  • Proactively engage with key stakeholders’ engagement to drive budget and business planning.

Risk Management

  • Assist the Chief Financial Officer and the Unit Operation Risk Manager in identifying and managing key risk areas.
  • Ensure compliance and improve internal controls and financial processes for the Company. This includes building management and operational control awareness within Country Finance team and ensure applicable policies and procedures are documented and embedded in operating manuals and instructions

 

Governance

  • Responsible for supporting the effectiveness of the Bank’s arrangements to deliver effective governance, oversight and controls in the function and monitor changes in these areas
  • Awareness and understanding of the regulatory framework, in which the Bank operates, and the regulatory requirements and expectations relevant to the role

  • Finance Controller of GBS China and Guangzhou, Tax head, Risk manager, GFS team and local support functions, CRES Head of GBS China and Guangzhou, TA Head of GBS China and Guangzhou

Qualifications

  • Minimum of Bachelor’s degree,
  • 8 years above working experience,
  • Big 4 experience is preferred, 
  • Experience in the financial sector is preferred,
  • Excellent proficiency in English,
  • Qualified Accountant preferred,
  • Advanced Microsoft Office tools knowledge,
  • Strong team player, capability to work across functions to support and lead initiatives.
  • Strong organisational skills, flexibility with a sense of materiality and decision-making capability.
  • Business analysis skills, with the ability to see implications and provide consultative solutions and recommendations.
  • Self-confident and flexible to manage the stakeholders.
