Job Summary
Senior Test Automation Engineer
We are seeking a skilled Senior Test Automation Engineer to join our dynamic technology team. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, building, and maintaining robust automated test suites across API and UI layers for mission-critical trading and financial applications, ensuring quality, reliability, and regulatory compliance across our global financial market business.
Key Responsibilities
Test Automation Strategy & Design
• Design and implement scalable, maintainable automated test frameworks covering API, UI (web), and end-to-end (E2E) test layers
• Translate business requirements and acceptance criteria into layered test strategies (unit / API / UI / E2E) and BDD-style Gherkin feature files
• Define test data strategy, environment management, and test coverage standards aligned with product risk profile
Development & Implementation
• Build and maintain automated test suites using industry-standard frameworks (e.g. Cucumber/BDD, Playwright, Selenium, REST-assured)
• Implement API-level automation validating request/response contracts, business rules, and data integrity
• Implement UI/E2E automation validating critical user journeys across web applications
• Integrate automated test suites into CI/CD pipelines for continuous execution and fast feedback
Technical Excellence
• Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented test code and glue logic following established coding standards
• Participate in code reviews of test automation assets and contribute to continuous improvement of test practices
• Triage test failures, distinguish flaky tests from genuine defects, and drive root-cause resolution
• Stay current with emerging test automation tools, frameworks, and industry best practices
Collaboration & Communication
• Work closely with backend developers, frontend developers, SRE, BAs, product managers, and business stakeholders to embed quality throughout the SDLC
• Participate in agile development processes including sprint planning, daily standups, and retrospectives
• Contribute to technical documentation, test reports, and knowledge sharing initiatives
• Mentor junior QA engineers and share automation expertise across the team
Quality & Compliance
• Ensure test coverage meets defined quality gates (e.g. minimum coverage thresholds) before releases
• Support regression, smoke, and release-readiness testing across test/UAT/production environments
• Ensure automated tests validate security, data integrity, and regulatory requirements where applicable
• Participate in defect management, root-cause analysis, and continuous test process improvement

• Test Automation Framework (BDD/Cucumber preferred)
• UI Automation (Playwright, Selenium)
• API Automation (REST-assured / Postman)
• Programming Language (Java or TypeScript)
• CI/CD Integration (Azure DevOps, Jenkins)
• Build & Packaging Tools (Maven, npm)
• Test Automation Framework (BDD/Cucumber preferred)
Qualifications
Technical Skills
• 3-8 years of experience in software test automation or SDET roles
• Proficiency in at least one programming language used for test automation (Java, JavaScript/TypeScript, or Python)
• Hands-on experience with BDD frameworks (Cucumber, SpecFlow) and Gherkin feature file authoring
• Hands-on experience with UI automation frameworks (Playwright, Selenium, Cypress)
• Hands-on experience with API automation frameworks (REST-assured, Postman/Newman, or equivalent)
• Familiarity with version control systems (Git) and CI/CD pipelines (Azure DevOps, Jenkins, or equivalent)
• Understanding of RESTful APIs, HTTP protocols, and asynchronous testing patterns
• Experience with build/dependency tools (Maven, Gradle, npm)
• Knowledge of test management and defect tracking tools (Azure DevOps Test Plans, Jira/Xray, or equivalent)

Education

Preferred Requirements
• Experience testing distributed/microservice architectures (REST + gRPC + WebSocket)
• Understanding of banking/financial services domain, particularly FX/trading systems
• Experience with performance/load testing tools (JMeter, k6, Gatling)
• Exposure to AI-assisted test generation or BDD-driven development pipelines
