Job Summary
The Executive Director role within CIB, Latin America Client Coverage, is responsible for building Mexico client coverage including all aspects of client development, new business generation, setting the broader strategy for the portfolio, and cross-selling Standard Chartered’s solutions and products. This role is directly responsible for building out the coverage across Mexico accounts (corporate, Financial Institutions, multinational, public sector). The role requires deep experience in the Mexican market and deep institutional knowledge of the industry from a strategic perspective. The senior banker will work in close coordination with his/her peers and senior management in the US and SCB’s other geographies to support clients and deliver the bank’s products and services across the footprint.
Key Responsibilities
Strategy
• Lead the origination and client relationship management for Mexican clients and prospects, including setting the overall client strategy, maintain a deep understanding of the clients’ needs and actively engage senior executives within clients to build relationships overtime.
• Act as the subject matter expert and provide sector content and insights that enhances strategic dialogues with clients, around themes such as ESG, International Finance, digitization, product developments, and beyond.
• Act as the Senior Banker and Relationship Manager in the Americas team to contribute to the CIB strategy, which aims to maximize shareholder value, identify, and create areas of competitive advantage, and aligns to the overall strategy of the bank.
• Take a lead role in the implementation of the vision, strategy, and direction for the LatAm portfolio, which includes corporate and FI clients.
• Mentor junior staff/ARMs in a Senior Banker capacity to foster an environment of career growth and opportunity.
• Understand and own credit risk of portfolio / clients and keep senior executives apprised of movement within Mexico’s risk standing.
Business
• Manage and create a book of client relationships, originating and executing transactions with Mexican clients to meet mandates and budget targets.
• Lead and arrange new deals from inception to transaction closing, including managing deal teams, structuring, negotiating documentation, securing the necessary business and credit approvals, and managing clients throughout the process.
• Leverage knowledge of the industry and the bank’s product suite to generate ideas and cross-sell products that enhance the returns, lead to new revenues, and create value for the bank’s shareholders.
• Engage senior management and decision makers of key clients to elevate the quality of dialogue with clients to grow the relationships whereby the client views the Executive Director as a consistent value-add partner and trusted advisor. This includes anticipating clients’ requirements and providing strategic advice, bringing in the relevant product and industry partners as appropriate.
• Professionally represent Standard Chartered at the highest levels within clients and industry conferences, while acting as a champion of the SCB brand, culture and conduct standards.
Processes
• Proactively manage the designated client portfolio to ensure close ties exist with key Product stakeholders (TB, FM, DCM, etc) and Support functions (Compliance, Risk, Middle Office).
• Review credit and risk content and manage the credit process, including timely and accurate submission for approval. This also includes working closely with the client to source the necessary information for the credit process and working to mitigate any risks identified during the review.
People & Talent
• As the senior banker within the LatAm team (including RMs, ARMs and CMs), provide senior level guidance to junior staff in relationship/client management, transaction execution, account plan development, and deal origination.
• Build a strategic growth plan for the Mexico market and develop talent by building an inclusive environment and involving junior staff in senior client level engagement to foster career growth and learning.
Risk Management
• Take the initiative regarding regulatory, reputational and ethical matters, taking the initiative for providing proactive advice to clients as identified. Coach and manage the team in these matters and ensure they are adequately trained in and cognisant of regulatory, reputational and ethical risks
• Ensure that key regulatory risks and concerns are raised into the governance framework throughout the teams
• Responsible and accountable for the overall credit quality of the assigned/acquired portfolio. Monitor client portfolio to ensure high credit quality. Work closely with credit to ensure quality & turnaround of credit proposals
Qualifications
• Education: Bachelor’s Degree and/or possesses significant demonstrable experience
• Training: Prior applicable experience in cross-selling and understanding product suite.
• Experience: 10+ years experience in developing and driving business strategy (including product/client wallet sizing, product governance, etc)
• Licenses: FINRA Licenses
• Languages: English, Spanish

Recruitment Assessments
Expected annual base pay range for the role is 255,000 USD to 330,000 USD. The final offer will be determined on an individualised basis using a number of variables, including but not limited to skill set, depth of experience and education, internal relativity, and specific work location. At Standard Chartered Bank, Base pay is only part of the total compensation package.
