Job Summary
The role of Head of Audit - Indonesia, and Audit Director-Regulatory Technology at Standard Chartered is pivotal in overseeing and guiding the audit function across the Indonesian market. This senior leadership position requires an individual who can not only manage comprehensive audit activities but also integrate additional responsibilities from the broader Group Internal Audit & Investigations (GIAI) portfolio. The role is embedded within Group Internal Audit (GIA), which serves as the third line of defence, providing independent and objective assurance regarding the effectiveness of the first and second lines of defence in managing business risks.
In this capacity, the Head of Audit ensures that audit engagements are conducted with the utmost professionalism, adhering strictly to the internal standards defined by the Internal Auditing Institute (IIA). The incumbent is expected to demonstrate exemplary professional ethics, including objectivity, integrity, and confidentiality, delivering balanced, insightful assessments that contribute to safeguarding the bank's assets, reputation, and long-term sustainability.
Moreover, this role acts as a strategic partner to the Board and Executive Management, driving audit methodologies that align with Standard Chartered’s valued behaviours and the evolving risk environment of the financial sector. The successful candidate will be committed to fostering a high-performance culture within the audit team, promoting continuous improvement and innovation in audit practices.
Responsibilities
- Lead the execution of the GIAI Strategy in Indonesia by ensuring audit activities enhance customer experience, support effective Group-wide change initiatives, and identify operational efficiencies.
- Manage and oversee the delivery of high-quality, risk-based audits within the portfolio, ensuring compliance with internal audit standards and regulatory expectations.
- Provide strategic leadership and mentorship to audit teams, promoting a culture that values positive behaviours and actively addresses flaws or cultural challenges.
- Plan and execute audits efficiently within allocated budgets and timelines whilst upholding applicable audit methodologies and frameworks.
- Identify and communicate key risks and control deficiencies during audits, facilitating agreement with management on action plans to mitigate identified risks effectively.
- Maintain continuous engagement with key stakeholders including senior management, the Country Audit Committee, and relevant governance forums to report audit findings and influence improvements.
- Coordinate the monitoring and completion of audit issue remediation plans, ensuring prompt resolution and closure of outstanding matters.
- Serve as a Subject Matter Expert on regulatory Technology and audit matters, promoting knowledge sharing and collaboration across regional and global audit teams.
- Contribute to department-wide initiatives such as annual audit planning, risk assessments, and team training programs to maintain audit proficiency and alignment with strategic objectives.
- Represent GIAI at key industry and regulatory meetings, providing constructive challenge and insights based on data-driven analysis.
- Demonstrate stong leadership and ability to motivate and guide audit Team Managers/Leaders and members.
Skills and Experience
- Professional qualifications in auditing or related business disciplines are mandatory, supported by recognised certifications; e.g. CIA, CISA or equivalent.
- Proven track record in internal audit within the banking or financial services sectors.
- Strong knowledge of risk frameworks and controls.
- Experience in applying audit methodologies in line with the standards set by the Institute of Internal Auditors, with an emphasis on independence and professional ethics.
- Excellent leadership skills with the ability to motivate, coach, and develop a diverse audit team, fostering an inclusive and performance-driven culture.
- Exceptional stakeholder management and communication skills, able to interface confidently with senior executives and regulatory authorities.
- Demonstrated ability and experience in Technology audit.
- Capability to work under pressure and manage competing priorities in a fast-paced, regulated environment.
