Role Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Java Fullstack Developer to join our dynamic team in Bangalore, India. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in maintaining and enhancing financial applications utilized extensively by Investment Bank operators. This position demands a combination of technical expertise, leadership, and analytical skills to deliver robust software solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, enhance, and integrate interfaces within complex financial systems.
  • Conduct code reviews to ensure software quality and mentor junior developers fostering a culture of excellence.
  • Act as a technical authority in diagnosing and resolving production issues promptly.
  • Collaborate closely with QA teams to support System Integration Testing (SIT), User Acceptance Testing (UAT), and Performance Testing (PT).
  • Monitor application performance, execute optimization strategies, and conduct capacity planning to handle scaling demands.
  • Generate and maintain comprehensive documentation aligning with Standard Chartered Bank's governance policies.
  • Adhere strictly to project delivery schedules and contribute to continuous process improvements throughout all project phases.
  • Engage with vendor partners and internal stakeholders to troubleshoot complex technical challenges effectively.

Qualifications & Skills

  • A minimum of 5 years of full software development lifecycle experience, preferably within Linux environments.
  • Strong proficiency with cloud technologies including AWS, container orchestration tools like Kubernetes (k8s), and containerization platforms such as Docker and Podman.
  • Hands-on experience with data platforms such as ELK Stack and Hadoop.
  • At least 3 years working with Oracle databases.
  • Extensive Java/JEE development experience coupled with modern frontend frameworks including ReactJS, Vue.js, TypeScript, and JavaScript, accumulated over 5 years.
  • Solid middleware knowledge and experience with messaging systems like ActiveMQ, Kafka, RabbitMQ, JMS, and other integration interfaces.
  • Expertise in Linux shell scripting to automate routine tasks and improve operational efficiency.
  • Demonstrated strong analytical and troubleshooting capabilities.
  • Excellent communication skills in English, enabling effective collaboration and stakeholder management across vendors and internal teams.
  • Experience within the Banking or Financial Services sector is highly desirable.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Information Technology or related fields.
  • Prior experience working within Agile development frameworks considered an advantage.
  • Capable of thriving under pressure with proven initiative, an enthusiastic approach, rapid learning ability, and meticulous attention to detail.

Key Stakeholders
Collaborate actively with internal departments including Regulatory Reporting and Compliance, IT Operations program and project leaders, platform owners across up/downstream systems, Functional Architecture teams, and Production Support including DBA, Infrastructure, Networking, and Cyber Security teams. Engage with senior management in multiple global locations including Singapore, UK, India, and Switzerland.

Strategic Responsibilities
Lead the design of innovative solutions and define comprehensive technical roadmaps to transition from current to target IT architectures aligned with the bank’s strategic objectives.

Facilitate seamless integration with the Global Corporate and Investment Banking (CIB) Technology systems and third-party platforms, proactively addressing technological challenges during solution delivery.

Consistently deliver cutting-edge, scalable technical solutions that harmonize with the bank’s front-to-back office architecture, ensuring resilience and high performance.

Business Impact
Drive the implementation of the CIB data platform transformation agenda, ensuring stability amidst escalating data volumes and evolving business requirements.

Provide leadership and guidance to software development teams, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.

Establish and maintain high software quality standards through best practices and continuous improvement.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams including business analysts, software architects, and developers to craft, test, and sustain comprehensive software solutions.

Identify growth opportunities within technical teams and foster skill development to enhance performance.

Ensure software development adheres to rigorous standards, including active participation in peer review processes.

Engage in vendor selection and evaluation processes, including Requests for Proposals (RFPs), to align solutions with business needs.

Process & Delivery Management
Champion Agile methodologies by embedding best practices in development teams, providing mentorship and technical coaching.

Leverage project management tools such as Azure DevOps (ADO) and Confluence to maintain clear, concise, and transparent task tracking and documentation.

Drive continual process improvements to optimize delivery efficiency and software quality.
