Job Summary
Our Credit Analysts have extensive knowledge of our risk assessment and portfolio risk management framework which they use to support our Account Managers with credit reviews, ongoing risk monitoring and client creditworthiness. They also assess Standard Chartered’s risk appetite against market and economic conditions across the different markets and asset classes.
About our Banking and Coverage team:
Our Banking and Coverage team owns and leads the management and development of our Client Relationships globally. They work across our global network with product partners to deliver working capital, financing, trade, cash, and market solutions for our clients. The solutions include varied products and services, from sustainable trade finance to credit derivatives, to mergers and acquisitions advisory.

For more than 170 years we’ve support clients with their transaction banking, financial markets, corporate finance and borrowing needs and provide solutions to nearly 20,000 clients in the world’s fastest-growing economies and most active trade corridors.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead comprehensive credit reviews and continuous risk assessments of financial institution clients to ensure robust creditworthiness evaluations aligned with evolving market conditions.
- Deliver timely, insightful, and concise credit portfolio analysis, integrating quantitative and qualitative data to inform risk decisions effectively.
- Prepare and document detailed financial spreads, recommend credit ratings consistent with internal scorecards, and maintain vigilant monitoring for credit-relevant events or early warning signals.
- Collaborate closely with Relationship Managers, Coverage teams, and Risk management to design and implement credit originations, risk mitigants, and portfolio management strategies.
- Conduct thorough client fraud risk assessments adhering to Standard Chartered's defined standards, clearly outlining residual risks and corresponding mitigants.
- Provide credit intelligence to identify viable business opportunities compatible with our risk appetite, supporting Relationship Managers and Product teams in crafting tailored financing solutions.
- Analyse market dynamics and sector-specific factors affecting clients, including industry risks, competitive positioning, funding strategies, treasury policies, and cash management.
- Carry out in-depth cash flow and liquidity analysis using ratio analysis and stress testing techniques to evaluate balance sheet resilience and profitability vulnerabilities.
- Assess reputational risks with attention to sustainability and climate-related risk factors, integrating these considerations into credit evaluations.
- Proactively support regulatory and compliance adherence in credit processes, ensuring all documentation and risk reporting meet the highest standards.
Skills and Experience
- The ideal candidate will demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of the credit risk management lifecycle in financial institutions, including portfolio monitoring, risk identification, and mitigation techniques.
- Proficient in financial forecasting, modelling, and quantitative analysis to anticipate and evaluate credit risks effectively.
- Experience conducting holistic client due diligence, incorporating behavioural insights and preferences to help evolve and enhance product offerings and services.
- Broad product knowledge spanning Markets, Transaction Banking, and Corporate Finance sectors, enabling integrated credit solutions that address client needs comprehensively.
- Familiarity with the financial services regulatory landscape, understanding compliance obligations, and adapting credit assessments accordingly.
- Strong data analysis and visualisation skills to communicate complex credit information clearly and support decision-making processes.
- Capable of working efficiently under pressure in a dynamic and fast paced environment, maintaining accuracy and sound judgment when managing multiple priorities.
- Demonstrated competencies in strategic thinking, collaboration, customer focus, decisiveness, and a commitment to driving vision and purpose within a team context.
