Job Summary

We are seeking an Associate Director for Transaction Banking Sales within our Corporate & Investment Banking division in Malaysia, focusing on cash, trade, and working capital solutions. This role demands a dynamic professional who will spearhead business growth by fostering strategic client relationships primarily within corporate and global subsidiary segments. The successful candidate will act as a trusted advisor, delivering tailored banking solutions that align with clients' evolving needs while consistently driving revenue and enhancing client satisfaction.

 

The role involves comprehensive engagement with client organizations to identify and capture new business opportunities, maintain an in-depth understanding of market trends and competitor activities, and collaborate cross-functionally to ensure exceptional delivery and service standards. This is a pivotal role contributing to Malaysia’s CIB business success by steering portfolio growth through innovative product offerings and exemplary client management.

 

As an Associate Director, you will be instrumental in shaping and executing long-term strategies for assigned clients, nurturing partnerships, and influencing key stakeholders at various organizational levels—within both our clients and internal teams. Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership and Planning

  • Develop and implement comprehensive strategic and tactical plans tailored for assigned clients, ensuring alignment with overall corporate objectives and coverage partners.
  • Design and maintain global calling strategies and stakeholder maps to facilitate effective client engagement and relationship management.
  • Drive the digitization agenda within assigned portfolios to enhance client loyalty, increase wallet share, and position the bank as a market leader in innovative transaction banking solutions.
  • Spearhead the orchestration of client responses to Requests for Proposals (RFPs), coordinating cross-functional teams to define scope, requirements, and engagement strategies, ensuring competitive positioning and successful outcomes.
  • Collaborate closely with implementation, client management, and service teams to deliver seamless execution of client mandates, consistently exceeding service quality expectations.

 

Business Development and Revenue Generation

  • Take ownership of Transaction Banking (TB) revenue targets for the portfolio, driving growth and achieving budgeted goals.
  • Manage the sales funnel actively, converting opportunities through targeted origination activities and maintaining a robust pipeline.
  • Lead client pitches and participate in deal structuring to secure new cash, trade, and working capital mandates.
  • Oversee execution and implementation phases post-deal finalization to ensure timely delivery and revenue realization.
  • Advocate and recommend service models aligned to client needs for ongoing relationship management and retention.

Qualifications

Educational and Professional Background

  • A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Business Management, Banking, Finance, or a related field. Equivalent professional experience will also be considered.
  • A minimum of 10 years' relevant experience in Transaction Banking sales, preferably a RM servicing corporate or multinational client segments with an in-depth knowledge of the Malaysian banking environment.
  • Professional certifications such as International Cash Management Certificate or Trade Finance Certifications are advantageous but not mandatory.

  • Demonstrated leadership abilities with a track record of articulating and driving business goals clearly to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Exceptional communication and negotiation skills paired with proven success in cross-cultural team environments.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities, enabling effective decision-making and strategic planning.

Technical Skills and Experience

  • Comprehensive understanding of Risk Management frameworks, including Credit and Reputational Risk considerations within transaction banking contexts.
  • Deep knowledge of business strategy development, market analysis, and transaction banking products and processes.
  • Expertise in sales methodologies such as prospecting, account planning, client pitching, and relationship management.
  • Extensive familiarity with Transaction Banking channels, Trade Finance products, and Cash Management services.
