Job Summary

This role is a 10-month contract responsible for managing the Shariah Secretariat functions to ensure compliance with the BNM Shariah Governance Policy Document as well as assisting in Financial, Management and Regulatory reporting to SCB management team

 

Key responsibilities include:

  • Organizing Shariah committee (SC) meetings and tracking SC’s training record. 
  • Managing the appointment, re-appointment, and termination processes for SC members.
  • Conducting annual background screenings and assessments for SC members.
  • Liaising with SC members to obtain necessary approvals.
  • Preparing meeting minutes and ensuring timely payment of dues to SC members.
  • Keeping proper records related to SC approvals and matters.
  • Ensuring proper dissemination of SC decisions and advice within the bank.
  • Interacting with Shariah teams within the Group as needed.
  • Maintaining constructive relationships with Business Heads and other stakeholders.
  • Assisting the Head of Shariah in driving the Shariah agenda.
  • Assisting the Finance Manager in preparing monthly financial, regulatory, and management reports for the Saadiq management team and stakeholders.
  • Preparing monthly Profit Sharing Investment Account (PSIA) reports and daily PSIA funding monitoring.
  • Daily monitoring of Intragroup Single Customer Exposure Limit (SCEL) and highlight for abnormality.
  • Supporting other key finance deliverables such as EXCO deck, Business Review deck and Board Papers.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or Master’s in Islamic Banking and Finance, Islamic Studies, Shariah Law, Islamic Economy, Accounting with Shariah, or a related qualification.
  • Good understanding of Shariah principles and their application in banking and finance.
  • Good organizational and communication skills to manage SC meetings, training, and interactions with SC members.
  • Proficiency in preparing detailed reports and maintaining accurate records related to SC activities.
  • Capability to support key finance deliverables and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
