Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced and visionary Executive Director, Head of Corporate Sales, to lead our Financial Markets Corporate Sales team in Malaysia. This pivotal role involves driving the growth of our onshore Financial Markets business while ensuring full compliance with all regulatory and compliance standards. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of the financial markets landscape, a proven track record in building and nurturing high-performing teams, delivering client-centric financial solutions, and executing strategies that align with the broader goals of Standard Chartered Group. You will play a key role in shaping the future of our Financial Markets business in Malaysia, influencing strategic decisions, and collaborating with cross-functional teams both regionally and globally. Your contributions will directly enhance client satisfaction, foster sustainable business growth, and uphold the Bank's commitment to responsible banking practices and an inclusive culture.

 

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership
You will translate the Group’s overarching business objectives into actionable corporate sales strategies that optimize market penetration and client engagement across Financial Markets products. Champion talent acquisition and development initiatives to build a resilient and agile sales force that thrives in a competitive environment

 

Business Development & Client Engagement
Take a proactive approach to identify and capitalize on client needs within foreign exchange, interest rates, commodities, and funding domains. Collaborate closely with coverage teams to onboard new clients and deepen relationships with existing customers through tailored and innovative financial solutions. Lead efforts to leverage Standard Chartered’s extensive regional network to deliver holistic and seamless client experiences

 

Operational Excellence and Risk Management
Oversee end-to-end client onboarding processes ensuring compliance with KYC requirements and regulatory frameworks. Manage client trading limits judiciously, working in partnership with trading desks and control functions to balance profitable growth with adherence to risk appetite. Drive initiatives to digitize and streamline workflows, enhancing efficiency and service delivery quality through collaboration with operations and settlements teams.

Qualifications

• Minimum Bachelor's degree in Business Management, Banking, Finance, or related fields; Master's degree is highly advantageous.
• Relevant professional licenses and accreditations applicable to Financial Markets and Corporate Sales, either internal or external, are required.
• Proficiency in English is essential, with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Additional language skills are beneficial but not mandatory.

Skills and Experience

• At least 10 years of progressive experience in Financial Markets sales, specifically servicing Corporates and Financial Institutions within international or regional contexts.
• Comprehensive understanding of the competitive financial markets landscape, including products such as FX, interest rate derivatives, commodities, and treasury solutions.
• Demonstrated leadership abilities with a track record of motivating and developing teams to achieve ambitious targets.
• Deep knowledge of relevant legal, economic, and regulatory frameworks affecting financial markets and trading corridors.
• Exceptional communication, negotiating, and influencing skills, comfortable engaging with multicultural stakeholder groups.
• Strong analytical mindset with excellent problem-solving capabilities.
• Relevant certifications covering Financial Markets products and regulatory compliance preferred.

Role Specific Technical Competencies

• Expertise in Business Market analysis and strategic positioning.
• Proficient in Client Relationship Management, ensuring robust engagement and satisfaction.
• In-depth Industry Knowledge and awareness of market trends and competitor activities.
• Understanding of Customer needs and behaviors to tailor financial solutions effectively.
• Knowledge of Product Lines across Financial Markets, enabling comprehensive advisory.
• Proven Leadership skills to inspire, direct, and empower teams.
• Tactical and Strategic Planning capabilities to align operational execution with long-term business goals.
