Job Summary

This Senior Data Analyst role within ESG Delivery is positioned to support our environmental, social, and governance (ESG) initiatives, with a presence in Malaysia. It is designed for individuals passionate about leveraging data to enhance sustainability efforts while driving strategic business outcomes.

 

As a Senior  Data Analyst, you will be instrumental in transforming complex ESG datasets into actionable insights that empower Business, Operations, and Risk departments to make informed decisions. You will manage the product backlog for ESG data projects and deliver pivotal data solutions that align with our sustainability and operational objectives. Working in a dynamic and evolving environment, this role calls for a strong problem-solver who thrives amidst ambiguity and embraces collaboration across diverse teams to realize impactful ESG strategies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic Leadership
    Drive the ESG transformation by applying innovative technology and methodologies to enhance operational efficiency and data transparency. Your insights will contribute towards positioning Standard Chartered as a leader in sustainable finance across the markets we serve

 

  • Business Engagement and Analysis
    Collaborate closely with stakeholders to understand their data exploration and analytical needs. Translate these requirements into clear milestones such as epics, features, and user stories for development teams.
    Foster strong relationships with internal teams by organizing demos and training sessions to ensure smooth adoption of data solutions.
    Continuously gather user feedback to prioritize and refine use cases, ensuring alignment with evolving business priorities

 

  • Data Processes and Delivery
    Lead the development and implementation of data delivery strategies by analyzing ESG-related datasets using programming tools such as Python and SQL. Extract critical insights to directly inform actionable business recommendations.
    Utilize advanced data visualization tools like Tableau and Power BI to present findings in an engaging, understandable manner.
    Oversee the complete lifecycle of data products and visualizations, ensuring seamless collaboration with Business Analysts, Squad Leads, and Customer Experience Innovation Design (CXID) teams.
    Effectively employ Azure DevOps (ADO) to monitor and manage workflow, prioritize tasks, and address project impediments proactively

 

  • Collaboration and Talent Development
    Work in partnership across multidisciplinary teams, ensuring alignment on business goals and timely delivery of key product features.
    Engage with Technology, Operations, and other relevant business stakeholders to coordinate resource allocation and maximize impact.

Qualifications

  • Possession of a university degree or equivalent in a relevant field such as Data Science, Finance, Environmental Studies, or a related discipline.
  • Fluency in English, both written and spoken, to effectively communicate insights and collaborate with global stakeholders.
  • Prior understanding of ESG frameworks, sustainable finance regulations, or risk management principles is advantageous.
  • Demonstrated commitment to continuous professional development and adaptability to new emerging technologies in ESG and data analytics.

Skills and Experience

  • Strong expertise in data analysis methodologies, including cleaning, processing, and interpreting complex datasets.
  • Proficient coding abilities in Python and SQL to automate data extraction and develop analytical models.
  • Skilled in building engaging visualizations using industry-leading tools such as Tableau and Power BI to support clear decision-making.
  • Effective communication skills, capable of translating technical findings into accessible narratives for diverse audiences.
  • Experience with agile project management practices to support iterative product development and alignment with evolving business needs.
  • Familiarity with Sustainable Finance principles or ESG Risk Management frameworks to contextualize data insights within broader organizational goals.
