Job Summary

Responsible for budgeting/planning of GBS Malaysia operating cost, manage day-to-day management overhead include but not limited to Business and Support Function such as CEO office, Corporate Affairs, Brand & Marketing, Compliance, Audit, CRES, Legal, Risk, SCM Vendor & Sourcing Management, Strategy, GBS Aspire & Talent and Human Resources.

Support the CFO/Financial Controller/Respective Head of Department in managing the operating cost for GBS MY entity and a trusted business finance advisor to respective stakeholder mentioned as above.

Coordinate with Business / Function Unit Head and UORM in controlling the level of operational risk (OR) exposure that results from business / function unit activities by co-ordinating, facilitating and promoting the understanding and awareness on overall operation risk.

Key Responsibilities

  • This role is to provide ‘real time’ support and analysis, to be trusted advisor and add value that will assist in decision making.  
  • Experience from other financial roles such as accountant and financial analyst is a basic start in the journey to becoming a finance business partner. In addition to this, one must have a vast knowledge of the business industry and understanding local regulatory requirements, such as tax laws, accounting treatment, compliance, and Sales and Services Tax regulations and deeper understanding of Malaysia’s unique financial and business landscape.
  • Proven experience in organising, planning, and executing activities from conceptualisation through implementation across multiple internal and external reporting and organisational lines, including proven ability to adjust plans to meet changing needs and requirements
  • Support business planning by providing financial analysis and modelling.
  • Identify and measure key success drivers.
  • Support decision making with data and insight.

  • Assisting in month end closing and managing the numbers as per budget for business & support functions.
  • Preparing and involve in Group Budget Cycle aligned with the organisation's goals.
  • Create comprehensive 5-year budget plans that forecast revenue, expenses, and capital requirements.
  • Oversee the preparation, consolidation, and review of annual budgets.
  • Ensure alignment of budget plans with organisational objectives and business planning.
  • Monitor budget performance and analyse variances to provide actionable insights.
  • Conduct detailed financial analysis to support strategic decision-making.
  • Prepare budget financial reports and presentations for senior management and stakeholders.
  • Identify financial trends and provide recommendations for improvement.
  • Partner with business units to provide financial guidance and support.
  • Identify and assess financial risks and develop mitigation strategies.
  • Ensure compliance with financial regulations and internal policies.
  • Implement robust financial controls and procedures.
  • Coordinate cross-functional teams to achieve budget objectives.
  • Stay updated with industry trends, best practices, and regulatory changes.
  • Drive process improvements to enhance financial efficiency and accuracy

  • Engage and maintain relationship with respective Head of Department / Stakeholders
  • Coach and develop financial awareness within respective function / business unit.
  • Champion Continuous Improvement (CI) within the function.
  • Good eye for detail and with a strong focus on controls and compliance to Group’s Policies and Standards.
  • Strong business and commercial acumen, with thought leadership, natural intellectual curiosity, ability to think both strategically and analytically, and with a digital mindset.
  • Ability to solve and manage complex situations, identifying solutions that support the function.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, effective questioning and active listening.

  • Strong accounting knowledge (MFRS)
  • Advance knowledge in financial system eg: MS Office, SAP, Hyperion, Oracle, PeopleSoft etc
  • Project management
  • Assist the CFO / FC, and the Unit Operation Risk Manager in identifying and managing key risk areas; ensure compliance and improve internal controls and financial processes for the Company. This includes building management and operational control awareness within Country Finance team and ensure applicable policies and procedures are documented and embedded in operating manuals and instructions.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience

•    Degree qualified or completion of CMA/CPA/ACCA/MBA Finance
•    Minimum 10-15 years of working experience with strong knowledge in planning & budgeting
•    Experience in financial services industry will be added advantage. 
•    Hands on approach and result oriented.
•    Strong verbal and communication skills. 
•    Demonstrated capability to succeed in a rapidly growing environment
•    Leadership/interpersonal skills/ management including organization skills, conflict management, time management and active listening skills. 
•    Experience in MNC’s preferred.
•    Good knowledge in financial systems e.g.: MS office, SAP, Oracle, PeopleSoft etc
•    Project management
•    Advanced excel and PowerPoint skills.
•    Performed variance analysis in previous roles.
•    Strong people skills/soft skills.
•    Experience in managing stakeholders at a senior leadership level.
