Job Summary

Strategy

•    Contribute to the development and execution of the engineering technical strategy, ensuring alignment with business goals.
•    Identify opportunities to leverage Spring Boot, Quarkus to enhance system performance and scalability.
•    Stay ahead of industry trends and emerging technologies to drive innovation and maintain a competitive edge.

Business

•    Collaborate with stakeholders to understand business requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
•    Develop and maintain backend systems that support business processes and enable seamless integration with a wide range of external HR systems.
•    Ensure that all technical deliverables align with business objectives and provide measurable value.

Processes

•    Design, develop, and maintain efficient and scalable backend processes using Spring Boot, Quarkus, and PostgreSQL.
•    Develop and maintain frontend pages using Javascript.
•    Implement and optimize API services to streamline data access and integration.
•    Optimize Postgres database performance through advanced tuning techniques to ensure fast, reliable access to data.
•    Follow Agile/Scrum methodologies to ensure timely delivery of high-quality software.
•    Continuously improve development processes by adopting best practices and tools.

People & Talent

•    Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams, including Cross Hive Leads, product managers, and DevOps engineers.
•    Mentor junior developers and share knowledge to foster a culture of learning and growth.
•    Promote a positive and inclusive work environment that encourages innovation and teamwork.

Key Responsibilities

Risk Management

•    Identify potential risks in systems and implement mitigation strategies to ensure system reliability and security.
•    Conduct regular code reviews and performance audits to maintain high standards of quality.
•    Ensure compliance with data protection regulations and implement security best practices.

Governance

•    Adhere to company policies, coding standards, and technical guidelines.
•    Ensure that systems developed are well-documented, maintainable and abide to best practices.
•    Participate in governance meetings to provide technical insights and recommendations.
 
Regulatory & Business Conduct

•    Display exemplary conduct and live by the Group’s Values and Code of Conduct. 
•    Take personal responsibility for embedding the highest standards of ethics, including regulatory and business conduct, across Standard Chartered Bank. This includes understanding and ensuring compliance with, in letter and spirit, all applicable laws, regulations, guidelines and the Group Code of Conduct.
•    Effectively and collaboratively identify, escalate, mitigate and resolve risk, conduct and compliance matters.

Key stakeholders

•    Product Owner / Hive Lead / Production Support Team / Program and Project Managers.
•    Downstream development teams

Our Ideal Candidates Should Have:-

  • BSc in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field with 7+ years working experience.
  • Proven experience as a Senior Full Stack Developer with a deep understanding of Javascript, Java and using frameworks like SpringBoot.
  • Strong hands-on experience with Postgres databases, including performance tuning and optimization.
  • Solid experience in building and consuming RESTful APIs.
  • Experience working with APIs integrations.
  • Experience with version control systems like Git.
  • Familiarity with cloud-based architectures and microservices.
  • Experience with containerization technologies like Docker and orchestration tools like Kubernetes is a plus.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively with both technical and non-technical teams.
  • Having HR domain knowledge or Successfactors API knowledge would be a plus.
  • Familiarity with Unix, Shell Scripting, Ansible would be a plus.
