Job Summary

The Director, Strategy and Business Planning, supports the Global Head, T&O (Technology & Operations) Governance in all matters pertaining to strategy, strategic transformation, operational excellence, business planning and governance across T&O. This is unique position requiring a combination of strategic thinking, excellent analytic capabilities, outstanding verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to clearly communicate complex topics to senior management, and strong interpersonal and administrative skills.

This role supports the Global Head, T&O Governance in shaping the function’s future state and ensuring robust governance practices are embedded into the bank’s strategic and operational agenda. 

Key Responsibilities

Strategy
•    Supports the Global Head, T&O Governance in matters related to defining and and executing a clear, forward-looking governance strategy for T&O, aligned with the bank’s T&O objectives. 
•    Ideates, develops, and tracks strategic roadmaps for T&O Governance and other T&O functions rolling up to T&O COO, ensuring execution against transformation commitments and delivery of measurable outcomes.
•    Supports the Global Head, T&O Governance in anticipating and adapting to emerging risks, opportunities, regulatory changes, and industry trends, ensuring the function remains resilient and aligned with industry best practices. 
•    Leads the preparation of strategy packs and key communication materials for T&O and other Bank’s senior stakeholders. 

Business
•    Demonstrates and acts on an awareness and understanding of the wider business, economic and market environment in which the Group operates.
•    Sustains the focus and communicates strategic governance initiatives to senior members of the T&O Management team, and to other Bank’s senior stakeholders.
•    Supports the Global Head, T&O Governance in preparing strategy packs / Committee papers / Executive summaries, and in communicating relevant messages to specific groups of senior stakeholders. 
•    Supports the Global Head, T&O Governance in key meetings with T&O and the Bank’s senior stakeholders, as required.

Processes
•    Supports the Global Head, T&O Governance in performing governance oversight, generating relevant insights, and tracking of key actions. 
•    Leads the planning for and facilitates management meetings and workshops, as required.
•    Act as a conduit amongst management team members, other key T&O and the Bank’s stakeholders, and relevant T&O staff.  
•    Originates, ideates, coordinates and updates strategy and governance documents and artifacts, as required.

People & Talent
•    Enhances collaboration among the T&O Governance Team members and with relevant T&O staff, fostering a culture of knowledge sharing, continuous learning, and high performance.
•    Embeds a culture of accountability, ensuring teams understand and take ownership of their governance responsibilities.
•    Leads through example and builds the appropriate culture and values. Sets appropriate tone and expectations for the Governance team and works in collaboration with the function’s partners.
•    Helps the Global Head, T&O Governance create a motivating environment for staff which is conducive to creativity and high performance, with customer centricity in mind.

Risk Management
•    Drives a proactive risk management approach, ensuring risks are identified, assessed, and addressed before they materialize.
•    Acts quickly and decisively when any risk and/or control weakness becomes apparent and ensures they are addressed within an appropriate timeframe and, if necessary, escalated through the relevant forums. 

Governance
•    Supports the Global Head, T&O Governance in leading the continuous evolution of the T&O Governance function, identifying opportunities for innovation and operational excellence.
•    Drives initiatives to enhance organizational design, ensuring the T&O Governance function is agile, scalable, and aligned with evolving business needs.
•    Supports the Global Head, T&O Governance in articulating and executing the T&O Governance target operating model, including location strategy, and optimizing team structures for effectiveness.
•    Helps ideate, articulate, and implement the governance framework for the function, ensuring effective oversight and transparency of BAU and transformation initiatives.
•    Maintain oversight of critical actions, commitments, and accountabilities related to T&O Governance, promotes management awareness, and focus on critical issues and actions.
•    Prepares materials and conducts sessions to update key T&O and Bank stakeholders of progress in strategic matters related to T&O Governance, as required by the Global Head, T&O Governance. 
•    Maintains a forward-looking view of T&O Governance-related business and management deliverables and effectively leverages this information drive progress on critical issues.

Qualifications

Education     Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Business Administration, Technology, or a related field.
Experience
•    Extensive experience in business management, governance, strategy or transformation, preferably within a global financial institution on with a global strategy consulting firm. 
•    Experience in supporting senior management / senior management team.
•    Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including an ability to present complex strategy and transformational matters to senior management in a clear and concise manner.
•    Ability to work on sensitive strategy and transformation materials and on materials of regulatory nature, with minimal supervision.  
•    A mature self-starter able to manage a diverse and critical agenda for a senior manager independently.
•    Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to face off to senior stakeholders in a complex, multi-cultural organization. 
•    Prior experience managing strategic deliverables for a complex organization preferred. 

Qualifications
•    Bachelor’s or master’s degree in risk management, Business Administration, Technology, or a related field.
•    In depth knowledge of corporate governance and corporate strategy preferred, especially as pertains to Technology and Operations.
•    Prior knowledge of risk management and technology risk frameworks beneficial.
