RESPONSIBILITIES

Strategy

  • To provide leadership, direction, and continuous improvement for all aspects of Data Centre Operations for the sites responsible (two Global Data Centres in Hong Kong).  
  • Ensuring that business requirements are met efficiently and in a timely fashion whilst ensuring compliance with the best practice for Data Centre operations, standards, policies, strategy, risk, and principles.

Business

  • To govern and oversee the Data Centre Operations of the two critical facilities in Hong Kong
  • Responsible for the planning and delivery of all supporting physical infrastructure, logistics, and the resources required to meet anticipated growth
  • Assist in implementing the service management methodologies including incident, problem, change and capacity management within our SLA commitments
  • To work closely with the local country managers and the asset management teams to improve data quality and eliminate the gaps
  • As part of service management, drive the Colocation vendors for continuous improvement and ensure the facilities are governed to ensure they are maintained to the required standard
  • Lead various projects and programs as needed to drive long-term objectives for the domain and beyond
  • Track the maintenance activities are conducted on the infrastructure on a periodical basis and established business continuity management practices are followed
  • End to End responsibly of the Data Centre Infrastructure Management solution and compliance

Processes

  • Identify process breakdowns across organizational workflows and implement solutions that improve effectiveness, improve processes continuously
  • Work with the regional security teams to implement the physical security, media disposal and Pipeline, Procurement and provisioning process
  • Identify the process areas that can be automated to yield cost saves and increase the efficiency in process across the function
  • Drive the capacity management and review the utilization of sites with focus on sustainability

People & Talent

  • Setup and coach staff to prepare for future with clear directions, monitor job descriptions and objectives
  • Identify and invest in talent to ensure the critical functions are skilled and qualified to perform the role
  • Lead by example to build an operational culture bind by values within and across the wider organisation
  • Drive efficiency and provide continuous feedback to ensure rewards are in line with the performance 

Risk Management

  • Management of risk and control requirements covering internal and external audit engagements 
  • Govern and oversee the regulatory inspections across the estate responsible
  • Take measures with focus on risk avoidance and channel risk remediation timely
  • As need arise, act promptly on known risk and control weakness that surface through the journey
  • Understanding of Operational Risk Framework and awareness to implement procedural changes

Governance

  • Manage and thrive to maintain the Control Design Effectiveness (CDE) and Control Operating Effectiveness (COE) of risk controls across the Data Centre sites with discipline
  • Maintain a culture of safety, security and compliance in all aspects of data centre operations
  • Enable local country managers for risk awareness and strong mitigation plans to minimize / eliminate

  • Take personal responsibility for embedding the highest standards of ethics, including regulatory and business conduct, across Standard Chartered Bank.
