JOB SUMMARY

 

Based in Hong Kong and aligned to a global team, the role is designed to closely support business-aligned reward advisory teams in our Asia locations. Due to the team’s footprint, this “self-starter” role needs to work proactively and independently

 

As an overview, the role would include:

 

  • Ensuring the effectiveness, efficiency and agile operations of the global governance framework for incentives and other aspects of remuneration by contributing to the design and maintenance of policies, standards, processes, guidelines, detailed operating instructions and communication templates.
  • Demonstrate good understanding of the PRA, FCA, as well as HKMA remuneration requirements by providing high-quality subsidiary remuneration governance support and advice, and by partnering with business-aligned reward teams across different countries on the implementation of global and country-specific regulations in key markets.
  • Ensure appropriate global alignment and consistency on how subsidiaries manage requirements (including remuneration committees) and regulatory submissions / reporting.
  • Manage the Material Risk Taker (MRT) identification process globally, and support subsidiaries’ adaptation of the framework, in compliance with local requirements.
  • Assist with the preparation and review of regulatory reporting data tables. Maintain Group-wide conformance testing, monitoring and reporting to provide assurance that Group-wide policies and processes are being followed.

RESPONSIBILITIES

 

Strategy & Processes

  • Awareness and understanding of the strategy of the Group, its subsidiaries and model appropriate to the role. 
  • Provide guidance to business-aligned reward teams across our geographical footprint by maintaining close communication and collaboration.
  • Support the application and adaptation of the global governance reward framework in subsidiary markets (with a focus on HKMA regulations), by proactively assisting and advising country teams on the development of country-specific regulations.
  • Ensure subsidiary remuneration processes, policies and regulatory submissions are in line with both local and global requirements, and maintain a close link between the Standard Chartered PLC remuneration committee and subsidiary remuneration committees.
  • Lead the Material Risk Taker (MRT) identification process globally, and coordinate the input from MRT processes for the subsidiaries that the Group operates in, focusing on Greater China, North Asia, ASEAN and South Asia.

 

Risk Management

  • Interpret and analyse reward-related regulation and legislation that is published by the regulators in China, Hong Kong, Singapore and India by responding to consultations, developing communication materials and reviewing the alignment of internal practices.
  • Support the preparation of guidance and briefings to ensure consistency in Reward team interactions with country regulators and auditors.
  • Provide advice on reward structures and governance for subsidiary Material Risk Takers for remuneration purposes.

 

Governance

  • Contribute to a regular review of the Group’s arrangements to deliver effective governance, oversight and controls, and work to improve processes in these areas.
  • Maintain awareness and understanding of the regulatory framework in which the Group operates, and the regulatory requirements / expectations that are relevant to the role.
  • Provide input into the development and maintenance of conformance testing, monitoring and reporting to confirm that remuneration processes are being followed consistently in all subsidiaries

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Finance, or a related field.
  • Professional certification in HR or reward management (e.g., CIPD, CCP) is preferred.
  • Proven experience in reward governance, compensation, and benefits within a corporate environment.
  • Strong knowledge of regulatory requirements and industry best practices related to reward programs.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate with stakeholders at all levels.
  • High attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel and PowerPoint
