Job Summary
The Associate Director, Macro Sales, Sponsors role at Standard Chartered is a critical position focused on driving the growth of our Macro Sales Sponsors segment on a global scale. This dynamic role involves partnering with major clients including large private equity firms, alternate investment managers, insurance companies, pension funds, and sovereign wealth funds primarily in the Western markets, providing them with macro products - such as foreign exchange, interest rate, money market, credit, commodities and other bespoke solutions - to meet our client’s risk management and investment need
Our sales team builds deep, trusted relationships, leveraging our bank expertise to deliver targeted solutions to our clients.
The successful candidate will exhibit strong client relationship skills as well as good knowledge of macro products. They will have exceptional attention to detail and possess advanced skills in communication and presentation, including market analysis PowerPoint, enabling effective marketing of financial market products to diverse client groups. A strong analytical and technical mindset combined with an entrepreneurial spirit and sound risk awareness are essential to thrive. The role offers exposure to multi-asset classes, supporting both flow and non-flow transactions, and includes responsibilities related to client engagement, trade execution, and portfolio structuring

Key Responsibilities

Direct client and P&L accountability with requirement to achieve individual revenue targets and contribute to team growth objectives.

Develop and prepare comprehensive client presentations featuring market updates, cutting-edge research, and actionable trading insights to support client engagements and business development.

Collaborate with Relationship Managers to identify and originate new client opportunities, driving awareness and adoption of Financial Market products

Coordinate with cross-functional teams—including Sales, Research, Trading, and Structuring—to understand client businesses, tailor product offerings, and develop strategic client engagement plans

Engage proactively with Financial Markets Structuring teams to deliver innovative client risk solutions that cater to complex investment and hedging requirements.
- Manage daily flow business activities diligently, meeting all compliance and procedural standards while maintaining comprehensive documentation and reporting

Promote and increase volumes through digital channels by advocating for bank trading platforms and streamlining transaction workflows.

Expand and nurture client relationships by marketing a broad range of Financial Market products including FX, Options, Interest Rates, and Money Market instruments.
- Work collaboratively to drive client engagement for Risk Weighted Assets (RWA) optimisation initiatives, aiming to improve the overall Return on Risk Weighted Assets (RoRWA) for Financial Market products.
Qualifications
- Proven direct front-office sales experience dealing macro products with clients within financial markets.
- In-depth practical knowledge of FX derivatives and interest rate derivatives essential for product discussions and sales.
- FCA licensing or equivalent regulatory certification demonstrating compliance and professional standards proficiency.
- Entrepreneurial mindset with strong initiative, capable of identifying and capitalizing on new business opportunities.
- Highly ambitious and proactive approach, consistently driven to exceed targets and deliver exceptional service.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a proven track record of engaging clients effectively and professionally.
- Native-level proficiency in English required; additional language skills in French or Spanish considered advantageous.
- Familiarity with complex financial structures such as options pricing (rates and FX), deal contingent structures, and asset swaps is a plus.
- Advantageous to have understanding or exposure to commodities derivatives and eagerness to develop technical market knowledge further.
