Job Summary
The Associate/Associate Director for Portfolio Analytics and Monitoring (PAM) at Standard Chartered will be entrusted with the proactive management of credit risk within a diverse and complex portfolio. This vital role encompasses monitoring and analysing exposures across Commercial Real Estate Financing. You will play a key part in ensuring the continued financial health and stability of the portfolio through detailed evaluation, rigorous risk assessment, and strategic oversight. Working within a dynamic, global banking environment, the successful candidate will utilise expert knowledge to balance risk mitigation with business growth, contributing to the bank's goals of sustainable commerce and prosperity.

Key Responsibilities
- Delivering in-depth credit analysis through annual reviews and periodic asset performance assessments.
- Executing backward- and forward-looking financial analyses, including project cash flow forecasting in line with asset valuation reviews and project monitor reports.
- Performing detailed risk and mitigation analyses.
- Take the lead in client requests for refinancing / upsizes / extensions
- Monitoring credit grades with a focus on timely adjustments to reflect changing risk profiles and adherence to internal risk frameworks.
- Leading credit approval processes concerning waivers, consents, amendments, and extensions, preparing comprehensive credit proposals, and liaising with relevant internal stakeholders such as Credit Risk, Legal, and Global Commercial Real Estate Finance divisions to facilitate efficient decision-making.
- Monitor adherence to financial and non-financial covenants, conducting impact analysis to assess potential portfolio vulnerabilities.
- Upholding compliance with Environmental and Social Risk Management (ESRM), Credit Risk Assessment (CRA), Reputational Risk, and Fraud Risk policies.
- Validating that Loss Given Default (LGD) benefits remain in line with the expectations set at deal origination.
- Taking a leadership role in the identification, monitoring, and escalation of Problem Accounts / Watchlists to ensure timely risk mitigation.
- Collaborating closely with the Special / Distressed Assets Group (SAG) and origination product teams to validate Stage 3 Expected Credit Losses (ECLs), ensuring assumptions are logical and well-founded.
- Conducting site visits as required, documenting observations in call reports and sharing key insights with internal stakeholders to inform portfolio decisions.
- Producing comprehensive quarterly portfolio reports that provide actionable insights into credit exposures and emerging risks.
- Responding promptly to portfolio-related inquiries, stress testing scenarios, and ad hoc reporting requests, supporting proactive risk management.
- Maintaining credit files to an audit-ready standard, ensuring completeness, accuracy and regulatory compliance across all credit documentation.
- Engaging actively in projects and initiatives aimed at improving process efficiencies and aligning portfolio management with evolving industry best practices.
Our Ideal Candidate
- Experience in commercial real estate (CRE) finance and credit analysis, with a strong preference for professionals who have worked previously in this sector.
- Background as a credit or financial analyst with proven track record in credit monitoring, covenant tracking, and property performance assessment.
- Strong financial analytical skills, including but not limited to ratio analysis, balance sheet and cash flow examination, and critical evaluation of excel-based financial models.
- Competence in cash flow forecasting and advanced financial modelling.
- In-depth knowledge of CRE asset classes, industry trends, and market dynamics, enhancing the ability to evaluate asset quality and potential risks.
- Practical experience in deal origination is advantageous, supplementing portfolio management capabilities.
- Previous portfolio management experience, demonstrating capacity in managing complex credit exposures and delivering effective portfolio oversight.
- Familiarity with Argus software or similar tools is considered an asset.
