Job Summary

The QA (Quality Assurance) Lead reports directly to the Global Head, Quality Assurance & Professional Practices, GIA (Group Internal Audit) and is accountable for the end-to-end design and delivery of the QA coverage across Functions. 
The role is responsible for assessing enhancing the quality of GIAI (Group Internal Audit & Investigations) work in line with the GIA Methodology, Group Investigations Standard, Audit Charter, the IIA Standards and other relevant Group Standards, industry practice, professional body expectations and regulatory requirements.
The portfolio has a broad span of business functions, and countries in the west markets where the bank has presence.
Aaccountable for the QA outcomes around audit activities within the portfolio, with particular focus on the Finance, Compliance, including Financial Crime Compliance and Risk aspects of the portfolio and for providing relevant regional thematic and regulatory insights into the QA work owned by other QA colleagues to the extent they touch the portfolio  
The QA Lead, will play a key role in developing the GIAI Quality Assurance and Improvement Programme and the broader function. They will provide insights and recommendations to the Global Head, and the relevant GIA Audit Executive Team member to improve the function’s strategic approach and contributing to process improvements based on QA results
Through their work, the QA Lead partners with the GIA Executive Team to enhance the quality of audit work, the management of GIA’s risks and GIA’s strategy implementation. They will attend relevant governance forums and maintain open communication with senior management, providing constructive challenge as needed.
Manage the team, foster high performance, and advocate for the function within the organisation. As a member of the Leadership Team, they will drive purpose and strategy, including advancing our digital strategy to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of assurance activities.
The QA Lead is expected to have strong technical skills and specialist knowledge of internal audit standards, risk management, investigations, and data.

Key Responsibilities

  • The QA Lead is encouraged to make a significant and proactive contribution across all essential QA activities, which include:
  • Collaborating with fellow QA team members to ensure the successful delivery and implementation of the Quality Assurance Plan throughout GIAI to a high standard.
  • Developing and ensuring that the Quality Assurance Plan and QA Coverage Strategy for the GIAI and Group Investigations portfolio effectively align with the GIA Methodology, Group Investigations Standard, IIA Standards, and any regulatory requirements and expectations.
  • Delivering a comprehensive, quantitative, and qualitative quality assurance program across all significant GIAI activities and processes, along with solution-oriented improvement plans.
  • Refine existing approaches, methods, and toolkits to ensure they remain innovative.
  • Gaining awareness and understanding of the broader business, economic, and market context in which the Group operates.
  • Maintaining flexibility in the QA approach to accommodate the evolving risks linked to the GIAI process universe.
  • Facilitating timely, effective, and impactful written and verbal communications with key stakeholders regarding the progress of QA activities.
  • Coordinating the identification of themes, trends, and lessons learned from QA reviews to promote the continuous improvement of GIAI’s processes and control environment.
  • Ensure that the QA Partners, including Senior Audit Managers and Audit Managers, receive the essential training needed to effectively fulfill their roles while adhering to local regulatory standards and expectations. 
  • When necessary, maintain any relevant professional qualifications and memberships. • Provide leadership, management, and coaching to QA Partners to foster high engagement and optimal performance. 
  • Set a positive example and promote a culture and values that align with the Group’s Priorities and Strategy.

Qualification and Experience

  • Certifications: Experienced audit professional with a recognised professional audit certification; i.e. (ACA, CPA, ACCA, ICMA, IIA, CIA etc).
