Job Summary

We are seeking a Business Manager to join our Global Credit Trading COO team in London. Reporting to Executive Director of Credit Trading, this role involves comprehensive business management and key initiatives. You will support the business by assisting in the development and implementation of strategy and facilitating operations by removing obstacles. Additionally, you will play a critical role in overseeing governance of the Credit businesses to ensure adherence to all governance requirements, including control and risk reporting through the Operational Risk Framework, and regulatory compliance. This is a first line of defense position. 

 

Key Responsibilities

Strategy, Business and Processes

•    Facilitating business by working closely with Sales/coverage and Credit Trading to overcome challenges across product, function and geography
•    Working with technology to build out key systems to support any business analysis/expansion
•    Manage relationships with external vendors as necessary.
•    Support Front Office stakeholders as necessary on the investment process incl. governance and controls
•    Support the end-to-end control and governance framework for the Credit businesses, including liaising with Legal, Compliance, Regional/Country BORMs, Regional COOs, Operational Risk, Technology and Operations, and other relevant senior stakeholders.
•    Propose and prepare frameworks, discussion papers and MIS as required to enable strategic planning and improve management reporting
•    Other change and efficiency initiatives for Financial Market

 

Risk Management

·    Responsible for identifying, assessing, monitoring, controlling and mitigating risks to the Group. Also, an awareness and understanding of the main risks facing the Group and the role the individual plays in managing them
·    Embed operational risk management and reporting as an integral part of the business process.
·    Ensure that adequate and appropriate systems and controls are in place to comply with Group and Business policies, procedures, standards and codes.
·    Monitor all major risk issues and concentrations. Where appropriate, direct remedial action and/or ensure adequate reporting to Risk Committees


Governance

·    Promote an environment where compliance with internal control functions and the external regulatory framework is a central priority of the business
·    Establish, maintain and supervise the framework to ensure business functions under my area of responsibility comply with internal policies, procedures, codes and applicable external laws and regulations and adhere to the expected high standards set out in the FM Code of Conduct
·    Manage the implementation of Credit Trading specific strategies and ensure that performance objectives and long term economic profit (EP) goals are met
·    Ensure the overall targets relating to budget are cascaded to teams with appropriate product targets and performance delivery on targets is proactively managed

Regulatory & Business Conduct

•    Display exemplary conduct and live by the Group’s Values and Code of Conduct. 
•    Take personal responsibility for embedding the highest standards of ethics, including regulatory and business conduct, across Standard Chartered Bank. This includes understanding and ensuring compliance with, in letter and spirit, all applicable laws, regulations, guidelines and the Group Code of Conduct.

•    Effectively and collaboratively identify, escalate, mitigate and resolve risk, conduct and compliance matters

Qualifications

  • Extensive experience in the banking sector's market business and first-line risk management
  • Demonstrated expertise in credit products
  • Exceptional communication skills
  • Proven ability to create high-impact presentations and compelling pitches (PowerPoint)
  • Proficient in drafting comprehensive committee papers

 

  • Experience in the credit trading COO space is an added advantage
